Homemade Bridal Bouquets
Making simple and elegant homemade bridal bouquets is possible with these easy steps. Take a look at this simple procedure to make attractive bridal bouquets at home.
Easy Steps for Homemade Bridal Bouquets:
What you will need
30 to 60 stems of flowers like the rose (20 to 40 for each bouquet)
Bucket
Paper towels
Stem cutter
Stem stripper
Rubber bands/waxed floral tape (green)
Straight pins/pearl-tipped corsage pins
Ribbons - 1 to 2 inches wide (Choose colors that complement each other well)
Procedure
First, remove all the thorns and excess foliage and damaged petals. Next, fill a bucket of water and use the stem cutter to cut the stems underwater at an angle. Let it remain for a few seconds in water. Transfer these flowers to a bucket filled with cold water. The stems can be trimmed later once you are done with the other decorations.
Pick a rose stem, one at a time and hold four roses at an even height in the shape of a square. These will form the center of the bridal bouquet. Your next step would be to arrange the flowers in the shape of a dome around the center four roses. With the help of a rubber band or tape, secure the stems where they join at a natural angle below the flower head. Continue binding towards the ends of the stems. Ensure you leave around 2 inches of the stem at the bottom so that it can be trimmed later. You can place the stems of these roses in the water for some time.
Your next step would be to trim the edges and keep them at the same length. Ideally, the stems should be up to 8 inches in length. Dry these stems with a towel. Now you need to cut the ribbon. The length of the ribbon should be three times the length of the stem. Begin wrapping the ribbon in a spiral fashion and tuck one end of the ribbon inside the top area of the stems. Once you reach the bottom of the stems, you can tuck the end of the ribbon inside. Use pins to secure it firmly. These need to be inserted from the ribbon into the stems. You can even create a beautiful bow out of the ribbon. This can be placed just below the flower head.
Now, wrap the bridal bouquet in a tissue and place it in the refrigerator. This can be taken out of the refrigerator just before you are leaving for the wedding. Always keep the bare portion of the stems in the water till you use it for the wedding. Spritz a little water on the roses to keep them looking fresh. Your homemade bridal bouquet is ready to be used.
