Homemade Bath Salts Supplies
Speaking about the homemade bath salt supplies, you must be having most of them in the kitchen cabinet. Each of the individual constituents are helpful to the skin in one way or the other. For example, Epsom salt or sea salt (promotes healing and blood circulation), glycerin (an excellent moisturizer), baking soda (a good skin scrub for treating rashes) and essential oils (moisturizing and healing).
Making Homemade Bath Salts
Take supplies in appropriate amounts - 1 cup Epsom salt, 1 cup sea salt (after removing impurities), 1 - 2 teaspoons baking soda, 1 - 2 teaspoons glycerin, 10 -12 drops of essential oils (lavender oil or eucalyptus oil). If you want to impart color to the bath salts, use a small amount of food coloring paste or skin safe liquid colorant. Line a baking sheet with wax paper for drying the salts. Once you keep all these ready in a handy place (preferably in a clean kitchen table), you can start with the preparation steps.
Lay a plastic sheet over the kitchen table to collect any fallen substances. In a large metal bowl, measure and add Epsom salt and sea salt. Using a medicine dropper, add essential oils drop by drop into the salt mixture. Stir in liquid colorant or food coloring. Turn the salts and mix the ingredients with your hands. Consider blending it for about 10 minutes or until the salts are evenly coated with essential oil and coloring agent.
After thorough mixing of the bath salt ingredients, spread the resulting handmade bath salts in a baking sheet lined with wax paper. In order to ensure quick drying, make the layer as thin as possible. Now, let the moisture evaporate for approximately 6 hours before putting salts in the containers. This drying procedure will help prevent clumping of the salts inside the jars. With this, your homemade bath salts with glycerin is ready. Add salts in containers till their neck and put on the lids tightly. Avoid using a loose lid, as it will cause clumping of the salts and premature fading of the aroma. Take label print outs mentioning the scent and stick them to the jars. You can read more on how to make bath salts.
