Making Aluminum Polish at Home
By implementing a simple method, you will be able to make this polish at home. To begin with, mix 8 tablespoons of baking soda in equal amounts of cream of tartar. Now, take 4 oz of white vinegar and add it to the baking soda mixture. Mix well and continue stirring till a smooth paste is formed. Include 4 tablespoons of soak flakes in the mixture. Ensure that all the ingredients are evenly distributed. The mixture thus formed, can be used as an aluminum polish. This mixture should be stored in an air tight container and a glass jar would be a good option. Aluminum polish stored in a cool and dry place is effective for upto two years.
Use a steel wood pad to apply this polish on aluminum fixtures. Before applying the polish, scrub the object to remove dirt. Once scrubbed, rinse properly with warm water. After using this aluminum polish, you can also apply lemon juice with the help of a soft cloth to get that extra shine on the surface. Even though this homemade polish lasts for two years, it is better to prepare it again, in case it is unused for more than six months.
As there are different types of aluminum, polishes available in the market are designed for a specific type. So finding the right aluminum polish can be time consuming.
