Home Business - Considered a Legitimate Job?

I see it a lot, and I know I got it a lot when I first started working over the Internet. Do you know what "I kept getting?" Right, everyone kept telling me to refuse from working on the Internet because to them, it was not considered a "real job." I kept asking, "but what exactly do you mean by that?" "What do you mean it's not a real job?"

I started thinking and wondering why it seemed that everyone around me was coming to that conclusion. I also quickly came to the realization that listening to people telling me that, and really not thinking for myself and coming to my own conclusions, was starting to hurt me. I realized that the "advice" given to me by others simply wasn't getting me nowhere - it wasn't helping me.

You see, I don't agree with that type of thinking. The reality is that making money is making money - plain and simple. The second you think that you can't make money with a home based business because it isn't a real job, is the second you will lose focus of your goals. To top all this off, your so called "real job" at one point in time could have easily been considered a non legit way to make money - in essence, it's equivalent to the same unhelpful advice I was getting when I first started out working online.

The reason I believe this would be the case, is because at one point in time no one was used to working and making money at your now "typical 9 to 5 job." So in a way, it could have also been seen as a job that isn't a real job. I think the best way to get rid of this stereotype, if you will, is to prove for yourself that you can make money online and chase the goals that you set for yourself. So, with the given example above, you can see that there really is no foundation for that type of reasoning. When it comes down to it, you want to chase the goals that you want to chase and not chase other people's goals - and if one of those goals is to run your own home based business, then go for it.
