Hockey World Cup 2010: Australia are World Champs

FIH Hockey World Cup 2010 - And we have our world champions, Australia.
Australia beat Germany 2:1 in the finals of the 2010 FIH Hockey World Cup to become the world champions, a feat they have achieved after 24 long years. It was a fast-paced match and was worth watching. Germany missed out on becoming the first team in history to win a hat-trick of titles.

Germany was vying to become the first team in history to win the world cup thrice in a row. For Australia, this was their 3rd final in a row, the last 2 proving unlucky for them. But this time was different as the team from down under managed to hold off the gritty Europeans 2:1.

England 3 Netherlands 4 (Third Place Playoff )
At the start of the tournament, the Netherlands was one of the teams tipped to win the title. They started the tournament well, but in the end had to settle for the 3rd position play off. They managed to beat a good English side 4:3, and take the 3rd place. The way England started the tournament winning everything, a 4th place finish for them must be pretty disappointing.
