In a high scoring encounter for positions 9 and 10, New Zealand hung on to take the 9th spot. Both teams were locked 4 apiece after regular and extra time, and the match went into penalty strokes, and New Zealand just managed to pull it off 5:4. In regular play, Inglis and Hayward (3) scored for New Zealand, while Reid-Ross, Norris-Jones, Paton and Hammond netted for South Africa. In the penalty shootout, Couzins (2), Hayward, McAleese and Wilson scored for New Zealand, while Madsen, Reid-Ross, Haley and Carr scored for South Africa.
Argentina 4 India 2 (Position 7 - 8 Playoff)
Argentina went on to beat India 4:2 to take 7th place. India have not managed to beat the South Americans since 1978 in a world cup match. Argento, Vila (2) and Callioni scored for the winners, while Sandeep Singh and Shivendra Singh each pulled one back for India.
Korea 0 Spain 2 (Position 5 - 6 Playoff )
Both these teams barely missed qualifying for the semi-finals, and Spain's 2:0 win here to take the 5th spot must have given them some sort of relief. Amat scored both the goals for Spain, ensuring this win for them.
Today's matches will be:
England vs Netherlands (Third Place Playoff )
Germany vs Australia (Final)
My predictions: Netherlands will take 3rd place, while Australia will take home the cup.
