Hockey, A Sport, A Passion, A Lifestyle!
This is a paper I've written at school... hope you all like it...
In canada, hockey is known to be the national sport. Across the country children of all ages are playing in the streets and in the rinks pretending to be the next, Vinny Lecavalier, Sidney Crosby or even Jeff Skinner the 18 years old rookie of the Carolina Hurricans whom earlier this year became the youngest All -Star selection EVER in the four major North American sports (Hockey, Football, Baseball and Basketball). Different children from different areas with different hero's brought together by two things, their passion for the national sport and their dream to one day bring Lord Stanley(The Stanley cup) home.
In my hometown, outside Montreal, Quebec hockey is more than a sport or a passion, it's a lifestyle, a way of living. It's almost a religion. People from around here , are living and breathing the Blue, blanc, rouge( blue-white and red). Here the children are playing in the streets and in the rinks pretending the next Carey Price, Mike Cammalleri, Max Pacioretty and the list goes on. The children here don't only dream to bring home Lord Stanley, they dream to bring it home as part of the Montreal Canadiens.
In the area, when a player leaves the team because of a trade or because he didn't resign with the team we as a nation grief together. When a player gets injured in action we all hurt, and we send out our support. When a new player is added to the team, us habs nation we welcome him home with open arms, happy to have a new member in the habs family that we are all a part of.
From the first to the last game of the season there are over 22 thousand fans in the stands at the bell center attending each and every home game, cheering on our team, The Montreal Canadians. They win together, lose together, as a team, as a family and we win with them, lose with them,as a nation, as a family.
