After a long time, a final decision was made by UNO,
"All the interested countries can form international under-14 teams of cricket."

Soon we formed a team. I, Aishwarya, was the captain – cum – bowler of our team, Indian cricket team.
India was to host the first "TWENTY-20 CHILDREN’S WORLD CUP."

Our first match was with Australia which we horribly lost. Next was with West Indies, we won it just by 5 runs. Later we played against South Africa & to win we wanted exactly 6 runs to win from 1 ball. My best friend was to face the ball. Our teammate so furiously hit the ball that she made the longest six record of 90 m.

So, finally, rather luckily, I would say we reached in the Super 8. Now our quarter-final was with Sri Lanka. We had given them a target of mere 100 runs which seemed very easy for them. But I bowled so well that I alone got 8 wickets by giving just 38 runs and they lost the match. I was awarded "Man of the Match" and I got a very cute and big teddy which I longed for since many years.

Our semi-final was with Pakistan. Losing even a single match with them that too at this stage would not only mean out of the World Cup teams but would also mean the entire Pakistan conquest over India mentally and socially. This was what our team and India, the country hated the most.
They had set a target of 189 runs. We tried our best and reached at the situation of 5 runs in just 1 ball I was at the striking side. So I was terribly nervous I only thought of God saw the ball and hit it terribly hard. But we all were so shocked when we looked, a fielder had caught it but the ball was so terribly hit that the fielder lost her poise and just fell down in the boundary. Our shock turned immediately into happiness when we came to know about our victory.

We all were congratulated as we had ultimately reached the finals. But I became hopeless when I came to know about our final match which was against AUSTRALIA. The Australian captain and an all-rounder just came near me and showed me her new spike shoes which were really very light weighted and said, "These shoes can make me run faster, even faster than I really can. So I would rather say you give up. We wont like to defeat you in the same way as we had earlier done, better you leave it with respect."
I was reminded of how badly we had lost the first match against them. Thus we decided to quit. I was called up by Mahi, and he boosted up my courage and said that winning or losing isn’t that important as playing. He also said that under all situations we should not give up, this was the real respect and sportsman spirit. Remaining cool-minded was the "most wanted" quality of a true CAPTAIN.

I, thus, changed my decision just the night before our finals. So we hadn’t practiced anything, still we had confidence in ourselves and our ability. I, now, not only wanted to play but was also determined to win, though we had been given a thrashing nightmare before by the same team.

Next day we just thought of all our countrymen sought their blessings. I, deep in my heart, promised them to bring THE FIRST WORLD CUP HOME.

The match had started and we, all the bowlers, just failed to take even a single wicket moreover, just gave away so many runs. Our target was touching the sky, as high as 219. We all were 211-9 and just one ball remaining. I was at the striking side I just batted off remaining cool-mindedly. But as soon as I saw towards the ball it was caught near the boundary by the Aussie captain I just sat down and started crying bitterly till suddenly I heard Mahi shouting that it was a not out. So the umpire asked for the third umpire decision and the captain had touched her feet to the boundary line. So it was a six, but still the game - we had lost it. The leg umpire declared the ball to be a no ball and I was overjoyed to see the umpire signaling for it. Now we needed only 1 run from a single ball. So we just decided to run as fast as we could and not look for the ball. I hit the ball coming in the half pitch, which was nearby only; my friend was already out of crease so we both had to run only remaining half pitch
in the opposite direction which we could run easily.
We had won the match!!! I was really very excited.

When we all were shaking hands with the losing team, my best friend remarked their captain, "Really, your shoes made you run faster than you really could but unluckily the movement was into the boundary....opposite direction." All of us had a hearty laugh at this remark.

I was called to receive the trophy so I took all my teammates who had made this possible. After that I was called to take the "Man of the Match" prize which was an ice-cream factory.
