Hilary Swank Undergoes Surgery

Actress and Oscar winner Hilary Swank reportedly underwent surgery Wednesday to remove a benign tumor.

Swank’s manager Jason Weinberg said that the Oscar winner was "experiencing some discomfort and went to see her doctor, who prescribed an immediate course of action that included a brief hospitalization to remove a small, benign growth." It has not been reported from where the growth was removed. Weinberg did say, "Her condition has been resolved and there are no continuing health issues with the exception of some short-term rest and recuperation."

Swank got her start in Hollywood with a small part in 1992 in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and her first major role was in The Next Karate Kid in 1994. She had a recurring role on Beverly Hills, 90210 and then got her big break as Brandon Teena in the movie Boys Don’t Cry. Swank earned her first Academy Award for Best Actress. She won her second Academy Award for her turn as a waitress-turned-boxer in Million Dollar Baby.

Swank married actor Chad Lowe in September 1997. the couple met on the set of Quiet Days in Hollywood in 1992. In January 2006 the couple announced that they were separating. Swank said during a number of interviews that she hoped that they could reconcile, but it wasn’t to be. In May 1997, the couple announced that they were getting a divorce. Seven months later Swank announced that she was romantically involved with her manager, John Campisi. She has two new flicks in the works, Birds of America is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in January and she will portray Amelia Earhart in the film Amelia for which she also co-executive produced.
