Maksim Miakovsky, 18, was reportedly arrested and charged with making criminal threats and stalking Duff on Friday. The Russian man allegedly revealed his plans to kill Duff at an event she was scheduled to attend on Sunday to a private investigator from Sunset Protective Services and Investigations. The investigator reportedly contacted Miakovsky at a Residence Inn in Manhattan Beach last week and he revealed his plans to kill the star.
Last month it was reported that Duff and her boyfriend Good Charlotte’s Joel Madden, 27, filed for restraining orders against Miakovsky and his roommate David Joseph Klein, 50. It was reported that Miakovsky moved here from Russia two years ago with the purpose of "meeting and becoming romantically involved" with Duff. According to the court papers, "Over the past six weeks, the defendants have engaged in an accelerated effort to make contact with Hilary, including visits to her neighborhood, to her mother’s home, to her boyfriend’s neighborhood…to Mr. Madden’s concert venue, and direct calls to Hilary’s manager." Klein was named in the court papers as the "intermediary relaying threats to the star."
Restraining orders were also requested on behalf of Duff’s sister Haylie, her mother Susan, and Madden’s brother Benji. Miakovsky has allegedly threatened to "remove his enemies" and anyone who stood in the way of his "romance" with Duff. He also reportedly throated to purchase a weapon and commit suicide if Duff did not share his feelings. Miakovsky is being held at a Manhattan Beach jail on $200,000 bail and is set to be arraigned on Tuesday.
