Duff’s parents, Bob and Susan, were in court Wednesday for a divorce hearing and it was determined that he violated a court order preventing him from selling any of his assets without prior approval by the court. He ended up being led away in handcuffs. He was ordered to spend 10 days in jail on the contempt of court charge.
This is just the latest in the on-going divorce battle between Duff’s parents. Susan also claimed Wednesday that she cannot live on the spousal support that she currently receives from her estranged husband. She said that she relies on her daughter’s income to live. She was also demanding $25,000 to pay for Hilary’s 21st birthday party on September 28. She said, "I know he’s a millionaire, and he’s got the funds." She also testified that Hilary was "emotionally upset" because she feels that her father abandoned her. In addition to the jail time, Bob was ordered to pay $12, 5000 to help fund his daughter’s birthday party.
Hilary, 20, and her older sister, Haylie, 23, did not appear in court and have not commented on their father’s sentence. When Bob Duff was led away in handcuffs Susan said, "This isn’t what I wanted." Duff’s parents have been battling it out in court for the past two-and-a-half years and there is no sign that things are going to get any better. Hope Hilary has better luck in the marriage department. Recently she was spotted wearing what appeared to be an engagement ring from her beau, NHL player Mike Comrie. She has not commented on the rumors that she is engaged.
