Highway Junk

Keep your eyes on the road
A strip of retread
From a truck
Causes me to swerve
And my passenger to duck

Junk on the roadway
All over the pavement
Here, there, and everywhere
Wherever there’s a highway

A sofa without seats
A milk crate still complete
A flattened road sign yellow and black
An old hubcap off some car’s back

Gravel and litter
Cans that glitter
A cardboard box
And a pair of socks

Keep your eyes on the highway
God Bless your vision
‘Cause missing
The junk
Ought to be
Your mission.
