High Sierra Adventure Rentals

A review of my first time renting and riding a wave runner.
It was a beautiful day in Northern Nevada, and my wife Michelle and I decided to take up an offer we received from some friend's of ours. They had just opened up a new business to accent their original business, High Sierra ATV Tours (which, as you might guess, gave guided ATV Tours). This new business, High Sierra Adventure Rentals, is starting out renting Yamaha Wave Runners (not Jet Skis), and will be expanding into boat rentals and para-sailing tours.

Now, I hadn't been on a Wave Runner before, and was a little on the intimidated side by them. However, Jay and Lisa Read, the owners, gave me a quick but thorough education on how the machine worked before I even hooked the trailer up to my Jeep. On their advice, we dropped the machines in the water at Frenchmen Lake in California just over the border from Nevada. They would have been glad to take the trailer for us, but I have quite a bit of experience driving with a trailer, so it wasn't necessary for me.

The water at Frenchmen Lake is beautiful! Not as clear as Lake Tahoe (where they will deliver the machines if you'd like), but clean and already getting warm even this early in the season.

We had a great time! The machines, while very fast, are exceptionally easy to handle, and I felt safe the whole time even as a beginner. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the experience to anyone. Check out the link to their website, and if you live or are going to be in the Northern Nevada or Northern California area, give it a chance. You won't regret it.
