High Fuel Prices Sparked the Boom for Online Courses in United States

Ryan Williams from California bought a Suzuki’s small car, so that he would not have to drive a gluttonous SUV - Mitsubishi Pajero to his distant college classes. But the fuel prices kept rising, that’s when he was forced to cut the expenses once again, deciding to eliminate three campus visits a week by enrolling to the on line version of his course.

Like Ryan Williams, millions of students in United States are opting for pursuing one of two courses of curriculum through Internet.

"The rising fuel prices have really pushed the students back. Consequently, the number of students enrolling for such courses has climbed up to 40 percent," said Mr Fletcher, Director Online Courses Dept in a college in California.

With fuel prices surging up by 5 $ per gallon, most of students are seeking to cut their commuting costs by studying through the plenty of on line courses provided by all the reputed universities in US. The most of these students belongs to the relatively fringe-class of the society, who cannot afford the expenditure for studies and further the rise in fuel prices has compounded their problem.

"The experience of pursuing a course in campus is simply priceless, I would not blur upon that idea. But when the penny starts punching you, then going on line is a great alternative," said Mr David F, Full time faculty in University of Tennessee.
