The science behind getting a hickey is pretty simple. According to medical experts, while kissing, when the person puts the lips on the body, for instance on the neck (for a long period of time), covering it completely, a vacuum is formed, and in case the vacuum is strong enough, it breaks the little capillaries of the soft skin of the neck. Doctors call this as ecchymosis or commonly "bruise". Hickey, a gift of a long-lasting-passion, is often called physical injury however since psychologically it's seen as the sweet manifestation of love, people are more happy with getting it, only to regret later, especially if it appears as a long red mark with no practical technique to hide it! Once the passionate moment has left a love mark, you should work to remove it, if you find it embarrassing though!

Apply Cold!
The earlier you wake up to see the hickey and make efforts to remove it, the better it would be for you to get rid of them. Remember, the earlier, the better! You can apply ice packs (wrapped in towel/paper) on the area where you've got hickey. You can keep the ice for certain intervals of time on your neck and it has been found to remove the love bite mark. Keep doing this at regular intervals. You can keep a spoon in the refrigerator and apply the back of spoon on the area having a hickey. This will be more comfortably to apply on neck. Keep the spoon as long as it remains cold. Actually, using cold pack therapy constricts the capillaries easily.

Apply Heat!
Applying ice helps in the healing of the area where the hickey existed. After one or two days of the existence of the hickey, you can put a washed and clean cloth, warm it by a heater or a cloth soaked in warm water and put on the hickey area, four-five times a day for the duration of 3-4 minutes. This will help blood movement in the area of the hickey.

Massage!
Massaging the area of the bruise (technically, it is also called bruise) or the love bite is believed to heal the hickey faster. When you massage the hickey area, it helps in the blood flow and heals the area relatively faster.

While I mentioned earlier that there are no exact ways of hickey removal so you can try the above given tips.
