Here I Lie Somewhere Dark

Hope you like it. it's kinda free verse so heerrreee it is.

I breathe slowly
In and out
My chest goes up and down
I feel my heart pounding
Thumping violently inside me
Stopping and thumping again
Skipping frantically all over the place

I try to breathe even slower
I end up huffing and gasping
I don't give up
In through the nose
Out through the mouth
I hold the breathe longer and longer
I feel the pressure in my lungs
My body aching for air
I finally release the breathe and inhale
In through the nose
Out through the mouth

The floor is cold where it touches my skin
I feel my skin prickle with goose bumps
I shiver and bite my lip
A thought crosses my mind
I bite harder
It doesn't hurt
I bite harder
Still I feel nothing
I bite harder
I feel my lip tearing under my teeth
I stop
I turn my tongue over my lip
I feel a small mark and the metallic taste of blood

Another shiver hits me
I try to push myself up with my arms
Pain rips through them under the weith of my body
I collapse back to the floor hitting my head
A small gasp of pain escapes my lips shattering the air of silence
I cover my mouth with my hand
I curse myself silently

Lying on my back I glance around
There are many shadows in the darkness
The more I look the more I see
I see great goblins lurking in the corners
I see snakes slithering across the floor
Demons hover in the air
They wait for me to close my eyes
I clench my fist, ignoring the strain in my muscles

I relax my body
Take a deep breath
In through the nose
Out through the mouth
I grit my teeth and pull my knees up
I start to whimper
The anguish causes my legs to shake
They crash to the floor
I manage to bend enough to rub my sore legs

I try to yell and only an airy squeal manages to voice
A salty tear trickles down my cheek
There is no escape...
