This herb is specially popular among women for treating post menopause depression.

Ashwagandha
Ashwagandha is an important herb of Ayurveda or Indian medicine. Not only is the herb useful in reducing stress by acting on the neurotransmitters, it is specially useful in treating stress related disorders like hypertension, diabetes and arthritis. It helps the body to maintain homeostasis, minimizes imbalances and strengthens the immune system.

Ginseng
Ginseng is a multi-purpose herb that is best known for its anti-anxiety properties. It improves the functioning of hormones that provides a sense of relaxation. Its stimulant properties reduce stress and tiredness, restore emotional balance, enhance overall health and aids the anti-aging process.

Chamomile
Chamomile plants come in two varieties - the German Chamomile and the Roman Chamomile. Both the varieties have been used for treating a number of disorders that include anxiety, insomnia, skin allergies and eye infections. Chamomile tea is also popular in several parts of the world to relieve stress.

Valerian

Valerian root extract contains the substance valepotriate that is an excellent remedy for anxiety. The substance acts as a mild sedative that relaxes both the mind and the body. It has been used for centuries as a traditional medicine to cure stress, high blood pressure, palpitation and insomnia. It has proved to be most effective when taken continuously over a long period of time. Although research proves that Valerian extract is non-addictive and an excellent medicine for anxiety, it is not recommended for women who are pregnant or nursing babies.

Damiana
Damiana is a shrub that grows in Central and South America. It is one of the best herbs for treating anxiety. It acts by controlling the functioning of hormones. Its sedative properties are helpful in treating mild depression and anxiety. It also acts as an aphrodisiac and a nerve tonic that reduces stress.

Nature is replete with answers to almost all the ailments we suffer from. Herbs have traditionally been used by our ancestors to cure several diseases.
