Her Own Highland Laird Chapter Three
Brenda finally reaches Colin's home but to meet a surpriseeee and new characters! It's going to be one crazy emotion ride :)
Brenda woke up finding that the soldiers had already packed their things so she went back to the stream to wash up quickly. When she came back Colin was waiting by the horse. She walked up to him and he lifted her onto the horse. He then came up behind her. Finally, when everybody was on their horses Colin started moving.
"Are we almost home, Colin?" Brenda asked.
"Yes, just over that hill." He liked the fact that she had called his home her home.
She slumped a little and allowed herself to be in his embrace he tightened his grip on her. Brenda noticed that Colin always have his commander ride beside him and occasionally they would exchange words back and froth. She caught his name while they were communicating back and forth. It was Ramsey.
"Milady, are you happy that we are almost home?" Ramsey asked.
Brenda smiled sweetly at him and Ramsey lost his train of thought. If it wasn’t for Colin who gave him a good glare he would be forever lost in his mistress smile. She was beautiful, he had to admit.
"Yes I am excited, Ramsey. Tell me more about the place." Brenda answered him. He nodded his head.
"I think you will love our people. They would definitely accept you." He complimented.
"I hope so." She said softly.
"Ramsey do you have wife and kids at home?" She asked him after a while.
He chuckled lightly. "No, milady. I have not found a wife yet to settle down with but if ever I see one like you I would sweep her away and marry her." And he winked at Brenda.
Brenda was starting to like Ramsey. Her heart warmed. He was a nice man. "That is very sweet of you." She reached over to pat his hand. He looked up at her surprised. Colin wrapped his hand around her wrist and pulled her hand back in her lap.
"Brenda, you can talk to Ramsey without touching, can you not?" Colin asked clearly irritated that he was being left out of the conversation.
"Well, I was just patting him. You know Colin, I would tell you what I think of your home." Brenda decided.
"Brenda, my home is just above the hill there. Can you see?" He asked her. She turned her head quickly to take a look. Her breath was caught in her throat.
He was right. It looked indestructible. It looked nothing like a home but a dungeon but she wasn’t going to say that to him. He will be hurt.
"It’s huge." She managed to say. Ramsey and Colin grinned. They knew she didn’t like it but she was trying her hardest to be sweet.
Someone came running down the hill towards Colin. Colin pulled his horse into a halt. "What is it, James?" Colin asked.
"Laird Mackenzie is here waiting for you, my lord." The stableman stated.
"Why is he here?" Colin asked.
"He has come to visit."
Colin swore under his breath. Laird Mackenzie was Colin’s childhood friend. They knew each other since they were little. They use to fight together in battle until his friend was taken away to be Laird of the Mackenzie. This was not a good timing though. He wanted to get back and organize his castle again.
"All right. Ramsey I’ll see you at home. My wife and I are riding ahead." Colin moved his horse into a gallop and Brenda wrapped her arms around his waist. Four other soldiers had followed them and moved along side their laird. Brenda thought that was very thoughtful of them.
When they reached the castle everyone was there to greet them. One person in particular stood out to Brenda. She wore a gown that was very low cut. Her breast was about to pop out any moment. She sauntered in front of everybody pushing people aside as she stands in the middle with her arms wide open. Brenda knew she would not get along with that woman.
Colin set Brenda on the ground and as he got off the woman ran across the grass to him. There she pulled him into a tight embrace. She rubbed her body against his and kissed him. Colin let her. Brenda was angry now. He dares to do that in front of her? She is his wife!
Brenda whipped the woman around and glared at Colin who seems to not be effected by the kiss at all. The woman looked at Brenda than at Colin.
"Colin, who is this?" Brenda asked sweetly trying to cover her anger. She didn’t know why she was angry but she did not want to be embarrass in front of everybody.
"This is my mistress, Margaret." Colin said nonchalantly. He caught a flash of flame in Brenda’s eyes and then it was quickly covered.
"Yes, I am his." She took hold of Colin’s strong arms and wrapped it around her waist.
"Colin, we will discuss this tonight." Brenda said through her gritted teeth.
"There is nothing to discuss, wife." Colin didn’t understand why his wife was upset. There are many husbands out there who have a mistress in their keep even when they are married.
"There is and it is urgent." Brenda was angry that Margaret didn’t dare ask who she was and still was touching Colin.
Colin was about to answer when his friend walked out from the castle. "Colin!" He shouted.
"Malcolm, why are you here today?" Colin asked curious now.
"Is that a way to greet your friend whom you haven’t met for a while now? Oh and who is this beautiful young lady. She’s stunning." Malcolm didn’t wait for introduction. He took hold of Brenda’s hand and kissed it. He didn’t remove his lips though but left it there for a moment longer. His eyes all along were on Brenda.
Brenda curtsied to him. "My lord, I am Lady McAllister." His eyes widened and he looked at Colin who was not scowling at his friend for he was still holding Brenda’s hand.
"Colin, tell me where do you find such beautiful lady. I want one. Forgive me, Lady McAllister but you are beautiful. Why, you look like a goddess to me." He chuckled at his own confession.
"Malcolm, let go of my wife’s hand." Colin pried away the clinging Margaret and walked over to his wife where he wrapped a protective arm around her shoulder showing that she was his.
Brenda anger seem to spark even more. He dares to touch her after what he done earlier? Brenda absolutely will not tolerate this. "Forgive me, but I will follow James and help him take the horses to the stable." She wanted to get away from him before she makes a mistake and tear at him.
"No." He commanded. Brenda gave him incredulous look. He was really testing her.
"I’m leaving." She followed James. Even though she said she was going to help him. She moved ahead of him and didn’t wait to help him with the horses. Colin noticed she was mumbling something but he did hear a word that was inappropriate for a woman to speak.
"Your wife seems to be really furious." Malcolm came to his side. "She’s a pretty little thing."
"Stop looking at her. She’s mine." Colin said feeling irritated that his friend found his wife attractive.
"I can’t help it. I mean, look at your soldiers they are still looking at her while she is walking." Colin looked around and Malcolm was right. They were still looking at her. Colin cleared his throat and everyone turned back to him.
"That is Lady McAllister, you would be loyal to her as you are to me, and you would care for as you would for me. Do you understand?" He ordered his clan. Everyone cheered their agreement.
Meanwhile, Margaret was fuming. She was not mistress no more but a mere whore because Colin is now married to that lady. Margaret was always mistress. She had the power. Colin always favored her but when Colin pushed Margaret aside she knew that he did not want her no more. He didn’t even kiss back. As God as her witness, she will be mistress again.
