"How dare he!?" "Shhh, You'll wake her up." "He had no right to....!" "Never mind. The important thing is that she is here, unharmed." "SHUT UP. She needs rest and if you guys keep arguing, she's going to wake up."
I frowned in my sleep at the angry whispers around me. I slowly opened my eyes and got up. Right there was Nico, Draco and Carl. All three of them shut up when I looked at them. I got up and my head began swaying. Carl ran and caught me, "Carma. Will you just stay put? I'll send these two twits to go get you some food. You finally woke up." I just stared at Carl, feeling betrayed. I had all my memories and I now knew that Carl was never abandoned by me. Everything he had said to me till now had been a lie except for the fact that he was really my brother. Carl backed away a little when he saw my hurt expression. "You.....you know?" he gasped. He turned to Nico and Draco and asked, "Please may I talk to her alone? Just get some food."
For once, Nico and Draco left without another word. I smiled gratefully but my smile faded when I noticed the soldier bond between Icahn and me had disappeared. I ran my fingers over my arm but it was like there was never a bond. I blinked furiously to stop any tears from forming. I remembered so much about us. Being ripped apart with icy tendrils would seem more fun than thinking about him. I looked at Carl but his face was overshadowed with guilt. His lower lip trembled a little like he was trying not to cry either. "Sis....I'm so sorry. I never meant to hurt you but before, without....him..." I flinched when Carl said 'him'. Carl immediately enveloped me in a hug and began sobbing. I started crying silently too. After some time, I gave him a wobbly smile, "At least now I know how much of a painful kid you were." Carl grinned back at me, "Yeah. The part where I beat you at all our races is still pretty fresh too huh?"
I huddled against him wishing I could just keep all my memories of him and erase the rest. Carl suddenly pushed me off, "Carma. I know this hurts a lot but you need to get back to your normal self. We can't let you go through another phase of depression." I just stared at Carl, stunned. Whatever happened to the sweet little boy who was just crying in my arms? Either Carl had lots of mood swings in general OR those were fake tears. I had a very good feeling about the second option being right though.
"Do you still love Icahn?" I nearly fell off the bed when he asked me that. "What is WRONG with you? What happened to the whole I'm so sorry thing?" Carl folded his arms, "What happened right before Icahn gave you your memories?"
I blushed a little, remembering the last kiss. Carl snapped his fingers in front of me, "Earth to Carma! Look, the last time this happened, I was the sweet brother who understood. THIS TIME, I'm going to be the badass brother who will NOT let you go back to your crappy depression stage." I nodded in shock. Carl was scary. "He kissed me. He told me to never fall in love with him again."
Carl sat down on the bed and suddenly stood up again, "HELL YEAH! WE'RE IN! WE'RE GOING TO GET YOU ICAHN!" "Carl, he also told me that we would NEVER be able to see each other again."
Carl grinned, "Well that is stupid. Do you realize that the 'Justice' HAS to be present whenever an angel or demon gets into trouble? After all, he has to deliver the verdict." My eyes widened, "So if I get into trouble, then I shall be brought in front of ALL the elders!"
Carl nodded and smiled innocently, "And THAT is how we will win. Once Icahn sees you again, you should just smack one on him, straight on the lips and VOILA, we have Icahn back!"
"I really wish the real world was that easy Carl. Wait. Wait a minute. Just a question but what kind of trouble were you talking about?" I asked, a little scared of the evil grin on Carl's face.
Carl's evil smirk grew even wider, "Something that will be impossible for him to miss."
"Carl...you aren't thinking about another soulmate battle right? Even though I know I can take on Nico and Draco after a week in Icahn's realm, I really don't want to do it right now. Maybe in a month or so."
"Carma, Carma, Carma, Have you lost faith in me? I know how you work. I'm thinking more along the lines of causing major destruction on Earth. You know...undoing work Healers have spent ages on."
"NO FREAKING WAY. Do you realize how much trouble we'll get into?" I screamed. Carl folded his arms and glared at me, "Oh really? Golly gosh. Here I was, thinking we could get away with a peace prize. Thank you, Captain Obvious."
"Oh. Right. We have to get into major trouble. But what can we destroy?"
"Not destroy exactly. Invade....Ruin families, attack homes and other happy places." "Carl, I would love to get into trouble but I don't want to ruin poor human families into it. They can do that without our help."
"Hmm....Okay. Let's start kidnapping Healers." "HEALERS? Carl, I KNOW you're super smart and all but sometimes I wonder if you have anything in that head of yours."
Carl rolled his eyes, "Carma. Are you going to do this or not?" I sighed, "I want to but don't you think trying to get ourselves in trouble will probably end up with us being in jail?"
Suddenly, Draco burst in, "Yes, It probably will. You know what else can get you into jail? Plotting against the Elders. Carma Angel and Carl Demon, you are officially under arrest. Remember, everything you have said or will say is going to be held against you."
Carl threw his head back and laughed, "Well then, suck on this Draco, WE OWE YOU." Draco ignored him and let two demons hold our hands behind our backs and walk us out of the room. Draco remained in the room while the two demons kept walking ahead, leading us out. While we walked out, Carl looked at me, "Do they realize how easy it is for us to unleash ourselves?"
"I don't think so. You want to do the honors?" I asked sweetly. Carl grinned maliciously and unleashed his wings, throwing his guard into the air. My guard looked astonished and turned to me but my fist was already waiting for him. I socked him one straight in the jaw and then dusted my hands. I snapped my fingers setting both the guards on fire.
Carl looked at me, "I don't know if I should be shocked because you just barbequed two men alive or happy because you're finally learning to fight for yourself." "I haven't barbequed them alive Carl. They can't die. Yet. It's another trick Icahn taught me."
"Impressive" nodded Carl. Then both of us jumped into the air and flew off. We both knew we didn't have much time until the Elders were on our trail. Again.
