You may be worried about why your baby is lagging behind in his or her growth than the neighborhood children. Or is it you who is lagging behind in baby care and what to do about it. You do fret over this issue. Don't you? You do compare your child with the rest especially, when there is no noticeable age difference among them. I do it every time I visit a good friend of mine. His baby boy and my nephew are of the same age (2 years old). You must remember that every child is special. If it is your newborn, you are comparing with the newborn, cradled next door, then allow me to inform you that, both of them will have tripled their weight at the first birthday. A newborn may not seem to be growing as tall as a maturing adolescent might, but it still is.
If you dig deep enough in your memory bank, you may recollect, especially if your are a late bloomer, that meeting some of your teenage friends, after a gap or vacation of 3 or 4 months, you found them towering over you. Did you try the famous pun, "How is the weather up there?" to tease them. Did you feel amazed at the sudden transformation in them? Oh! Come on, there is nothing magical about it. No two individuals can grow at the same rate. Some teenagers mature early to hurry into adulthood. Some cling to the sweet childhood, knowing the world would still be there for them to make an appearance in and mature a bit late than what is normal. Read more on weight and height conversion chart.
During this period, teenagers seem to gain and lose weight rapidly. It is normal for them to add a few inches to their height, quickly. It is almost as if, they have grown within a time span of a blink of a mother's eye (the sentence is copied from, "Compilation of A Harassed Mother's Sweet Memories" ). This is especially true, in case of adolescent girls who are more likely to undergo sudden changes in weight, height, composition of bone and in the distribution of body fat. Boys, during this time of turmoil, put on some muscles. The height and weight chart for children is presented below.
