Heidi and Spencer Pratt Quit Reality Show, For Real
Heidi and Spencer seem to have finally ended their short run on NBC's I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. But stay tuned to see if this quitting sticks.
NBC is doing a great job of milking its most famous couple on the reality show, I'm a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!, and Spencer and Heidi Pratt are more than happy to play along. The relatively talentless couple known to some as Speidi seems to be doing everything in their power to stir the pot on the reality show. The show is filmed in the Costa Rican jungle and pits semi-celebrities against one another as the compete in a Survivor-style format for cash and prizes. Each celebrity is representing a charity and most of the contestants are trying to resurrect or launch acting careers, so they're grateful for the publicity.
But Heidi and Spencer seem to think that they are above the whole deal and that they are, in fact, real celebrities. In today's Hollywood-first world, it's difficult to argue with them. They are on a hit television show and they are immediately recognizable to most Americans in the important advertising demographics. Of course, they are famous for being on television, even though they don't act or perform in any discernible way.
For now, we'll be watching them as they bounce around from on promotional vehicle to another, somehow trying to stay in the public eye for as long as possible. Fortunately for them, there is an entire entertainment media industry that will help them do it, reporting on their every move as if we all were dying to find out what they're up to. That's the beauty of the entertainment media - and media in general - they go to great lengths to create the news that they are reporting to us. And we're left to wonder why everyone around us so stupid and ill-informed.
