Heartless - Chapter Two

Thought I'd add the second chapter.

Chapter Two: Again

"Mrs May, was your daughter involved in drugs?" DC James Parker asked in the sincerest voice he could muster. He appeared calm and collected on the outside but in his 18 years in the service he had never come across a collections of death this brutal!
" WHAT!" Karen shouted, " how can you ask that? My daughter was at the top of her class and would never be involved in that kind of thing! Ruby was 15 years old and she was violently attacked, exactly like the other three, if you don’t find who killed my girl there’s going to be more! Now if you wouldn’t mind , me and my family would like to be alone."
"We will do our best ma’am. I’m sorry but this won’t be our last visit" DC James said as he walked towards the door.

DC James stepped out onto the pavement and pulled his jacket close against his chest to block the winter’s icy breeze. He walked along thinking about the 4 girls killed in that week, he thought about the monster that did it and he thought about the connection, if at all it was a connection or just a mere coincidence. Each girl killed had the same eye colour, dark green. James got into his car and drove home still thinking of the murders.

"You look tired. Want me to walk you home?" Lewis asked Katie just loud enough to be heard over the loud music.
"Sure, that would be great thanks." Katie replied while gazing at Lewis thinking about how she didn’t deserve such a gentleman. Lewis led her out of the club and into the cold winter air. He looked over her short sleeveless dress and shook his head at her. There was no way she could walk home in this temperature and not catch hyperthermia.
"Don’t you have a jacket or something? You’ll catch your death out here" Lewis said with a wry smile. He quickly pulled his jacket off and draped it round her shoulders. " There, that’s better"

They walked in silence until Katie tripped over her 3 inch heels and would have fallen flat on her face if Lewis’ strong hands didn’t catch her round the middle.
"Whoops, sorry it’s these stupid shoes, and it doesn’t help that they’re a size too big!" Katie said, still a little breathless after her fall. Lewis looked around and spotted a nearby alleyway, it was a bit earlier than he expected but he knew that when you got the opportunity, you took it.

"Hey, why don’t we see if there’s somewhere you can sit down in this alley and rest for a minute or two" Lewis drawled while pulling her into the alleyway. He kissed her sweetly before pushing her to the ground forcing her to whack her head against a stack of crated next to him. His knife had fallen out of his jacket pocket when the girl slid to the floor, he grabbed at it and sliced the girl in the same pattern as he did last night. He stopped only when her screams and cries were no longer. He turned his back and walked calmly away as if none of it had happened.
