At home, Minal was ever so distracted that she couldn’t suppress her anxiety with anything. Her mind kept drifting to what was happening at The Verma’s House. Her parents had gone to pay a formal visit to them. She was in her thoughts when she smelt something burning.
"Oh no, my seasoning." Groaned Minal. She was cooking food or rather burning food for the lunch. She was so distracted that today everything that was cooked was slightly burned.
"Get a grip Minal, what’s the matter with you." she said. "This is only the beginning and you are turning to be a hopeless case, what will happen when you will finally ARE married. Stupid girl, pay attention to your cooking." She scolded herself. Taking a deep breath, she tried to cook.
Somehow, the food was cooked without anymore burning. She looked at the time, it was 1:45pm.
"What’s taking them so long. They left at 9:00 am."
Yes it was long for Minal, but still The Verma house was far away, it took 2 hours of traveling, to and fro. At around 2:15 pm the door bell rang and Minal excitedly opened the door for her parents.
Later that evening, Mom came to Minal’s room. Knowingly Minal got ready for the conversation.
"The visit to Verma House went well. As we wanted to see their life style and all that. All is fine, you wont have any trouble there. We got a call from your uncle Sameer, on our way to their house, he confirmed that the details provided to us about Raj were correct, he really works where he works and his character is also proper. All the necessary decisions have been taken and…."
Mrs. Seth paused for a second, inhaled deeply.
"Minal, your Engagement is fixed for this Saturday." Announced Mrs.Seth.
Taken aback by this news, Minal could hear her ears ringing, the floor slipping underneath her legs, she just sat there out of shock. Her mom’s words kept repeating in her head and suddenly she was hunted by the Nightmare she had seen a few days before.
Sensing her emotions, Mrs. Seth tenderly touched her cheeks, which brought Milan back to earth.
She look at her Mom, tears started flowing from her eyes. Everything was happening too fast for her to get accustomed to.
"What’s the Big Rush." Minal finally found her voice. "Why can’t I stay with you guys for few more years." Minal said between her sobs. Even though Minal was excited about this entire marriage thing, she never realized it would hurt so much.
"Shh……, clam down sweetheart, every girl has to leave her parents house one day." Soothed Mrs. Seth, trying hard to compose herself in front of Minal. She hugged her daughter hand let her cry as much as she wanted to.

Minal looked at her left hand on her ring finger "The Engagement Ring." A tear dropped from her eyes, she was now engaged to Raj.
The engagement was carried out without much hassle. As per the tradition, the first phase of engagement took place at The Seth’s House, on Saturday, where only close relatives of both the family were present--- without Raj. It was a custom that the "would be bride" and the "would be Groom" will not see each other until marriage. On Sunday, the Seth family went to the Verma house to fulfill their part of engagement proceedings---- without Minal, of course.
Minal had yet not seen Raj, in person.

It was Monday, the next day after Raj was officially engaged with Minal. Raj was in his cabin trying hard to concentrate in his work but the engagement ring kept distracting him. Finally, he gave up trying to concentrate on the computer screen and closed his eyes to relax. The minute he did so Minal came in his mind and a smile carved on his handsome face. He opened his eyes and looked at his engagement ring.
"Minal." He whispered to himself.
"Ring Ring." Just then, his desk phone rang.
"Yes?" he answered.
"Raj, come to my cabin." It was Mr. Mehta, his boss.
Knock Knock.
"Come in Raj. Sit down." Said Mr. Mehta with a serious look on his face.
Raj sat down on the chair opposite to Mr. Mehta. Seeing the report in Mr. Mehta’s hand, Raj prepared himself to discuss about the report, which he had given to his Boss, this morning.
"Who is Minal??" Asked Mr. Mehta still looking at the report.
Raj was knocked off by the question his Boss has asked. He had never mentioned anything about Minal in his office. Nobody knew about her in the office. How did his Boss knew about her. Raj was thinking.
"Raj??" Mr.Mehta interrupted his thoughts, looking seriously at him.
"She is…..She is my fiancée." Stammered Raj.
"I see." Said Mr.Mehta.
"Here." Mr. Mehta handed back the report back to Raj.
Confused Raj looked at his Boss.
"Next time you change your signature, inform me before hand." Said Mr. Mehta, smiling at Raj.
Stunned by his Boss’s remark, Raj immediately flipped through the pages of his report until he came to the page of signature. "MINAL" shouted Raj in his mind. Indeed, he had signed HER name instead of his.
Beetroot red out of embarrassment he stammered, "So…..Sorry Sir, I will make the correction right away. "
He quickly got up and turned to leave.
"And Raj, Congratulations on your Engagement." Wished Mr. Mehta.
"Thank you Sir." Said Raj. He quickly left and almost ran towards his cabin.
As soon as he entered his cabin he nearly slammed his report on the desk, sat on his chair, his hand on his forehead.
"What the hell was that Raj." He scolded himself.
He took a few deep breaths to clam down, from all that excitement, then drank a glass of water.
Few minutes later when he was breathing steadily, he chucked for what had just happened. He took the report in his hand opened the page where he had done his new signature.
"You are driving me crazy, do you know that." He said, looking lovingly at Minal’s name on his report in his handwriting.
That evening when Raj reached home, he was met by overjoyed faces of his parents.
"Your Marriage Date is fixed for 24th of April." Almost screamed his mom in delight.
"Great, that’s the last thing I wanted which will keep me awake for the rest of the night." Thought Raj.
And yes that’s just what happened that night.
"Ring Ring," rang Mrs. Seth’s mobile, when they were on there way to the Verma Family’s house.
