Hearing Light: Chapter 9
Slumber party with friends! (Extra long chapter! =D ) Please notice that this chapter has two types of writing. Sentences with the name in script form and ones in book form. The ones in script form are texts/IMs and the book ones are said verbally. ty for taking the time to read! =D Oh! And there was an error in some chapter. Vincents name is Vincent Shiori, not Vincent Leon or Vincent Valentine (haha Final Fantasy Joke thereby mistake xD.)
It was Friday morning. There wasn't any school that day, so I got the chance to stay home all day and do nothing all day. I went downstairs and say two large suitcases packed and ready to go. Had there been something important I was forgetting? I looked confused at the packages and at the two people packing them.
"Where you guys going?" I asked. They turned around and Dad replied, "Remember that trip your mom and I were talking about?" I nodded. "Well, since you were in the hospital we postponed it until this week-end. We're leaving today."
I suddenly was hit with a strike of worry. A chill went rolling, slowly down my spine.
"He's a psychopath." I recalled Quinn telling me. I shuddered and looked at my parents, "Can I have friends over?"
My dad looked at me with a straight face, "As long as there's no boys. Yes." I smiled widely and gave him a hug.
"Thanks!" I quickly ran upstairs to get my phone. I texted an invite to Charlie, Anair, and Stephanie.
'Bring anything you want, but NO BOYS. Haha. Sleepover tomorrow, this week-end, 5:00 PM to whenever! Parents not home, so please let your parents know.'
I looked at my text before sending it to the three. I immediately got a reply from Anair.
Anair: Sweet! I'll b there 4 sure. ^AnA!r^
I smiled and looked at my phone and replied, "Thanks!" The next person to reply was Charlie.
Charlie: Ur havin a prty? cool! Can I bring mah Wii? <{=L E E=}>
Naomi: Sure! Bring whatev u want, mk?
Charlie: K, cool. Is it 2day or 2mrw? <{=L E E=}>
Naomi: 2mrw :)
Charlie: Kay! I'll ask mah parents if I can come over. <{=L E E=}>
Naomi: 'k'
Now I knew that Stephanie would take forever to reply. She only has her phone with her when she's out somewhere.
Stephanie: KAY! cool, I'll have to ask my parents though. U kno how they r xP
Naomi: Wow, u actually replied pretty fast! And mk. *crosses fingers and hopes they say yes*
Stephanie: lol okay, brb.
And so I waited for her to reply. I moved over to the desk in my room and began to think of things to do.
"Am I invited to your party?" a voice said. I cocked an eyebrow and turned my chair around. Sitting on my window ledge was the Prince of the Night. He looked at me and was lightly laughing at my expression. I rushed towards him, "Vin! You know if my parents see you I'll be dead!"
He laughed, "They won't see me. No worries there. People call me the Ninja Leave." I squinted curiously at him. "Ninja cause of how stealthy I am and Leave because of how fast I can leave."
I laughed, "I doubt you are that quick Vin-" I blinked and looked at where Vincent sat. He wasn't there. My head turned slowly as I heard a shuffle from behind me. I turned around and crashed into someone, "We're going to be leaving in a few minutes, okay?
There are a few things your Dad and I want to talk with you about. Come downstairs in a bit okay?" I shook my head and laughed nervously as she walked out and closed the door. My phone got a text, so I opened it to read it.
Vincent: I told you I was fast. Haha.
Naomi: Haha, I wondered y u disappeared so quickly. Where did ja go?
"Right here silly." He replied verbally. I looked around my room.
"Where?"
"Right here." Vincent jumped out from outside my window and landed in my room. I looked at him confused, "How were you able to get out there? We're two stories high."
"I took gymnastics in 7th grade. I'm pretty good at balancing on that ledge outside your house while texting." He laughed and he looked at me happily. I smiled back at him and laughed.
"The only way I'd let you come is if you were a girl." Vincent looked to be in deep serious thought until he looked up at me, "I could probably pass as a girl. Just need a few girl clothes. Maybe I can steal a few from my sister." He grinned broadly. I laughed at him, "The only way you'd pass as a girl with your deep voice would be if the person you were trying to fool was blind and deaf."
He laughed and said lightly under his breath, "You'd be surprised."
I paused for a moment, "Surprised about what?" He laughed and waved it off, "Nothing. Nothing."
He stood up and walked towards my window, he put a hand on the side and stepped up onto it, "Well, I have to go. I guess I'll see you later?"
I shook my head, "If I see you later you're going to be hit on the head with a softball bat." Vincent laughed at the threat and looked back at me.
"So afraid!" he chuckled and jumped out of the window. I sprinted towards my window to see him in mid-flight, landing gracefully on the grass below. He looked back up, waved and walked out the gate away from my house., "Last chance, if I'm not invited, I'll bring some of my friends and crash it!" he shouted to me. I stuck my tongue out at him and closed the window.
I checked my phone, there was a text.
Stephanie: OMG! My parent said I cud come ovr 2nite! *sqee!* lol
Naomi: Rly? cool! I'll c u at 5 den?
After 2 minutes she replied again.
Stephanie: Yea, cya ^_^
I closed my phone and looked at my whiteboard. I opened the packaged dry erase markers and began drawing. Delicate spheres and circles covered the board with a mash of lines and squiggles. Red, blue, green, black, orange, and purple made the image come alive. A large heart with a drawing of her in the middle. Two ropes are wrapped around it with two boys each pulling each one. She sighed as she looked at what she drew.
"Too bad it can't stay up there forever." She said to herself as she turned to walk downstairs. Her parents were waiting patiently downstairs for her. She came and sat down next to them.
"Okay Naomi, since were coming back on Sunday that means we're trusting you not to mess up the house while we're gone." She closed her eyes for a moment and took a long breath before continuing, "Grandma's, Aunt Patricia's, and the hotel's numbers are in the kitchen. If you ever need anything, remember we'll always be just a call away, okay?" I nodded in reply and she smiled.
"Which of your friends are coming today?" she asked. I thought, "So far Stephanie today and Anair and Charlie too." My mom smiled and looked at me. Her face changed from happy to stern, "-and NO boys, okay? We're trusting you. We don't want to have grandchildren already."
I laughed and realized what they had said, "Ew!!! Don't worry Mom, Dad, there will be no boys!" Suddenly I remembered Vincent's good-bye.
'I'll see you later then?' Vincent had smirked.
I shuddered a bit before looking at my worried Dad, "Don't worry about me! You guys have fun. And tell me which hotel you guys are at when you get there. I don't want to call the wrong hotel and look like an idiot."
They both laughed, "Okay, we will sweety. Do you have everything honey?" My dad nodded, "Yeah, I think that's everything. Remember, 9-1-1 is just three numbers away. Don't be afraid to call if anything goes wrong."
I smiled, "Okay! Okay! I'll be fine." They took a quick look at one another before smiling at me.
"We're just worried about you." They said. They came over to me, smiled, and gave me a hug. Their suitcases dragged across the floor as they went to the car. I stood in the doorway and waved to my parents as they leaved. And before I knew it, it was 5:00.
I sat in my living room as I ordered the pizza, "Yeah, just 2 medium pizzas with pepperoni. Okay, thanks." I sat there and looked at the movies I picked out to watch. The Last Song, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Paranormal Activity. I couldn't WAIT to watch them.
The door rang and I played my iPod on the stereo to the playlist I made for tonight. I opened the door to see Stephanie already here she waved to her mom and came inside. "Hey Naomi! We're going to have so much fun!" she said. In her hands was a nail polish kit with TONS of colors. In her other hand-held close to her was a turtle in his little cage. I laughed.
"Steph, you brought your turtle?" I chucked. She smiled, "Well, yeah! I can't go a night without Timmy. If I left him at home I'm sure one of my brothers would have probably eaten him." I laughed and took the nail polish kit from her hands as she put Timmy down on a table by the fireplace. I put it down and looked at her, "Charlie and Anair should be here soo-"The doorbell rang and Charlie and Anair both stood outside.
"-And by soon, I mean now." I laughed. They both came in and put down their bags. Anair was the first to the couch, "I call sleeping here!" She claimed slinging her sleeping bag on top. I laughed and picked up her bags and put them to the side, "We're not sleeping in here, my room's big enough for us all."
I walked over to my Playstation and pulled out some games.
"Okay! I ordered some pizza for us. What do you guys want to do? I have Sing Star, DDR, umm Mario Party-"
"Oh! Let's play Sing Star!" said Stephanie. Everyone agreed as I put in the game. Stephanie and Charlie picked up the microphones and Anair and I sat on the couch. We waited for them to pick a song and they argued over which song to sing.
"Just agree on one song!" I shouted over them. The both looked at me and laughed.
"Fine. We're singing The Way I Loved You by Taylor Swift." Charlie announced. Stephanie smiled, "Aw! I love that song!" They selected it and they began to sing.
The music started and Charlie began to sing, "He is sensible and so incredible and all my single friends are jealous. He says everything I need to hear and it's like I couldn't ask for anything better. "
Stephanie picked up after a verse, "He opens up my door and I get into his car and he says you look beautiful tonight.
And I feel perfectly fine."
In harmony they sang the chorus, "But I miss screamin' and fightin' and kissin' in the rain and its 2am and I'm cursin' your name. You're so in love that you act insane
and that's the way I loved you. Breakin' down and comin' undone. It's a roller coaster kinda rush. And I never knew I could feel that much. And that's the way I loved you."
Anair and I laughed as we watched them sing. They were both pretty good at singing. We played the game for about another hour before moving onto a DDR competition. In the middle of Charlie and Anair's turn, the doorbell rang. "Oh! Pizza's here!" I announced. I grabbed twenty dollars off the counter and opened the door. I got the pizzas from the boy and closed the door.
Charlie, Anair, and Stephanie ran over to me. I put the pizza on the table where we all sat down and ate. "Hey, how about we watch a movie and eat this?" Anair asked. I nodded in agreement, "Sure! I guess it's alright." It was already 7:00 anyway. I showed the movie choices and out automatic pick was Paranormal Activity.
We all sat nervously around the television as we watched. Katie and Micah were both in bed as the movie was rolling. We all watched afraid at the video. The blankets on their bed began to move slightly, and then almost as if someone was throwing them. We all hid behind our blankets as the door to their hallway slammed open. We all shrieked slightly as they got up. We watched for longer as they walked down the hallway. Micah had sprinkled talcum powder across the floor and they noticed un-normal footprints leading to their room. They went back to sleep when we heard a loud thud. Our heads jerked towards the stairs. That was DEFINITELY not the house creaking.
"Where you guys going?" I asked. They turned around and Dad replied, "Remember that trip your mom and I were talking about?" I nodded. "Well, since you were in the hospital we postponed it until this week-end. We're leaving today."
