Understand the fact that most of the hearing aid batteries are actually electro-chemical batteries that are also called Zinc Air. It means, these batteries are made of zinc and they get activated when they come into contact with air. Once you remove their colored tabs, these batteries get reacted with air and get activated and these tabs cannot be replaced again to deactivate the batteries. Hence, as a precaution, remove the color tab, only when you need it!
