Healthy lunch, Sounds familiar?! Now, don't get me wrong here as, we are nowhere closer to it! I mean, our lifestyle has changed so much so that we ain't able to have a proper lunch consisting of a well-balanced diet. Well, there might be few of you objecting here. Congrats, that means you do keep a watch on what is right and what wrong for your body! However, there are 'n' number out there, just like me, who have no clue of what they eat for lunch. I do agree, a busy, rather extremely busy lifestyle doesn't allow us to think much on what we eat however, a little time for ourselves is going to help, always.

We all know, it is better to have smaller meals a day rather than having a very heavy lunch or dinner. True. However, lunch is something you can't compromise on in any way and thus it needs to be fulfilling and of course, consisting of healthy foods! Now, healthy doesn't necessarily mean hogging on just vegetables and fruits. There are several options through which you could make a lunch, healthy. Simply put, stay away from too much of fats and carbohydrates. Let us see some healthy lunch options for work.

Soups
The first idea which comes to my mind are soups. Yes. Of course, entirely of your choice; veg or non veg! Soup recipes have always been a nice and a healthy way to start off a lunch and certainly the fulfilling starters. You get canned soups these days which taste equally good so you can opt for these as well.

Sandwiches and Pasta
Next are sandwiches or pasta. Now, it often happens that we are bored with the same sandwich taste. So, what you could do is try some alternative options say peanut butter and banana mash sandwich. Trust me, this is one of the healthiest combination known. Otherwise, you could make the fillings of your choice; use different vegetables, boiled chicken strips, lettuce leaves, different types of sauces. In case, you are not comfortable with normal bread, you can use the other types as well. Wheat bread is one of the very good options you could try. Alternative to sandwiches, you can boil pasta, dress it with sauces and have it as a good lunch.

Salads
You can choose the ingredients according to your choice. If you are a non veg food lover, you have an added advantage because you can mix cooked or raw vegetables with boiled or grilled meat chunks, give a touch of salt and pepper, and serve with mayo or mustard sauce. These are the healthiest of all since they are an excellent source of proteins. A complete vegetable salad is equally healthy so go for it. You can also make fruit salad and have them as desserts!

Quick Leftovers
Apart from all this, leftovers are a great healthy option which can be taken for lunch during work. Many times, we cook excess of dinner, and therefore you could use it the next day. What you need to do is microwave it for few minutes and carry in airtight lunch boxes. Alternatively, you could also go for frozen meals available in the local super markets which are healthy as well. Of course, this might become monotonous after few days so you can keep these as your last options.
