Head pains are most common ailments found in every day life, thanks to the stress filled modern lifestyle. Although, most of the head pains are harmless and can be treated easily, few of them can be dangerous and even fatal. Let us see their types, effects, causes and preventive measures…

Effects of Head Pain
Head pain envelops the whole head causing agony. A feeling of tightness or a vigorous ache follows the initial pain. It seems that a steel band wraps the head tightly. Stress from work, arguments and bills are not the only factors that can be associated to a headache.
Types of Head Pains
Common types of head pains include tension, sinus and migraines. Symptoms and causes of different types of head pains differ.
Teenagers and adult are prone to have Migraines. Migraines causes severe head pains on both sides of the head. Person suffering from migraines feels that the pain is traveling from one portion of the skull to the other. Simultaneously, they feel irritation with sound or light, upset tummy and moodiness.
Head pain through tension is different from migraine. Pain is not limited head but stays in shoulders, necks and other point of stress as well. Head pain only follows after the pain in other areas has occurred. Common medications prove sufficient for the pain. However, acute pains should be consulted with a doctor. Females are most prone to migraine.
Sinus head pain is due to changes in weather condition. It is a pain that is continuous in nature. However, it should not be mistaken to migraine. Pressure generated by fever, draining nose, coughing and eyestrain cause sinus head pain. Proper treatment reduces the pain and if it reoccurs than it needs attention from a doctor. Several injuries, pollution, smoke, hormonal changes, etc. can also cause head pains.
Preventive Measures
Head pains should be taken care off before they become harmful for the nervous system. We can follow some measures that can prevent head pains from getting aggravated:
Medication should immediately follow a slight tension head pain. Painkillers are not the ultimate solution, as they do not allow relaxation of muscles. Muscle tension only cause tension head pain and there is no use if the muscles cannot be relaxed. Local Pharmacist suggests proper medication if we are able to tell the type of pain we have.
The best way to release the stress in the muscles is to have regular session of exercises. Stretching and exercise have major benefits. However, people with sever head pains are advised for complete relaxation rather than exercise.
Sleep is a solution accepted by many as the cure to a head pain. However, a prolonged sleep can be a cause of a head pain. Small nap can help one to relieve the pain.
Tension head pains are triggered by inordinate noise; sometimes even a pin drop is good enough for raising the pain. A quiet and a relaxing place is what a person suffering from head pain needs. Relaxation and exercising deep breaths makes the head pain reduce largely.
A bright light from sources such as television, computer-screen or sun causes eyestrain leading to rigorous head pains. Physicians advise eye protection and cutting down of constant screen watching.
Excessive intake of caffeine can be harmful for the nervous system. Physician suggests bringing down the intake of caffeine to prevent head pain.
Continuous chewing of gum can cause the muscle of the heads to tighten especially the one near the jaws. Such tension in head muscle causes severe head pains.
Higher salt intakes can cause migraine to trigger. Salt intake should be properly maintained to avoid migraine.
Smoking and drinking are those ways that can slowly damage the nervous system. Malfunctioning of nervous system can result in many serious diseases with a common symptom, rigorous head pain. We know what we need to do to avoid such situation, cut down drinking and smoking. It will save cash and provide a longer and relaxed life.
Life and problems always go hand in hand. Hence, cannot be separated. However, putting ourselves under serious pressure is not the way to tackle problems of life. Tension has its toll on the body and the nervous system. However, to keep the body and mind well a little fun and sense of humor serves the purpose.
Regular head pains should be consulted immediately. Proper eating, drinking and living habits prevents body and mind from pain. Just take a chill pill and relax and head pain will never touch you.
