Hawk

A Mourning Dove Loses His Mate to a Sharp-Shinned Hawk
Hawk, Hawk!
Whence you come
Hidden by
The sun
Secreted like wind
Through the trees

My Love, My Love!
Together we
Find a tender spot
Of Earth to rest

Hawk, Hawk!
Your stealthy suit
Your killing claws
The cloak of death
You bring
Dismantles her life

My Love, My Love!
Not a whisper is heard
Before the cunning attack

Hawk, Hawk!
Your violence
Explodes a crater
In my heart

My Love, My Love!
Against the fury
Hawk brings
I am powerless

Hawk, Hawk!
You have pillaged
My mate
You have reduced
Her to your cravings
You have left
A crater in my heart
