Have Jesus’ bones been found for real?
Suppositions abound in our world but we have to clearly discern the information given to us and examine it before we jump to conclusions. Jesus doesn’t need our defense, He can defense Himself and the truth that He is very much alive will be seen soon, so no worries about that.
Some of the Jewish people today believe that Christ’s body was stolen by His disciples. The film "The Da Vinci Code" (please keep in mind that the book and the film is Fiction) stated that Jesus had an affair with Mary Magdalene; He had two daughters and was buried where a group of people believed they have discovered His body. This contradicts Christianity.
How can we support our faith that Jesus died on a cross, was buried for three days and rose from the dead? Are we able to believe Him and have faith in Him? Is Jesus just a false prophet or a good teacher? If any of this is true then our faith is futile and we actually have no hope.
What really happens when we die? Is the Bible true?
Let’s go over some verses in the Bible that speak of Christ’s resurrected body.1Corinthians 15 talks about the resurrection of Christ, the resurrection from the dead and the resurrected body. Paul states:
"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He appeared to Peter, and then to the Twelve. After that, He appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep." 1Corinthians 15:3-8
What is Paul affirming in this passage? Jesus did appear several times after His resurrection, He did fulfill the Old Testament’s prophecies, He is the Son of God.
Some people believe that there was no resurrection. Here is what the Bible says 1 Corinthians 15:12-28:
"But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead. But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been raised either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men.
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own turn: Christ, the first fruits; then, when he comes, those who belong to him. Then the end will come, when he hands over the kingdom to God the Father after he has destroyed all dominion, authority and power. For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death. For he "has put everything under his feet." Now when it says that "everything" has been put under him, it is clear that this does not include God himself, who put everything under Christ. When he has done this, then the Son himself will be made subject to Him who put everything under Him, so that God may be all in all."
Would you die for a lie? Would you allow your children and loved ones die for a stupid lie? For myself, I would never die for something unless I was convinced that it is indeed something so valuable and worth defending with the highest price a human being can pay: his/her very life.
Why would apostles had wasted their lives just to spread a lie with the price of their life? An attentive look at history and a little logic make us seriously doubt anything less then what the apostles have preached. Science does not prove that the One who created the world is dead and the One who gave us sight is blind, and the One who gave us ears cannot hear.
However, our duty is to examine the evidence and conclude only after we have proven to ourselves that the Bible is true or not. Examine the evidence!
