Happily Ever After

Not as happy as the title sounds. An old friend, the only friend from back home who lives nearby and I could actually hang out with still, has been leaving me out to dry. I tried to stay in touch, to be a good friend. Some people just won't be straight with you.
Is everything truly okay in the end?
Will you still say that when you've lost a friend?
I've told you my problems with your habits
I've let you know that I have had it

You send me a short little tale
All about work and all it entails
You say you don't have enough time
To be my real friend. Well, hey, that's fine

Don't tap on the glass when I walk by
Don't yell my name and tell me "Hi"
Don't hug me, miss me, or wonder why
Don't come to me when you need to cry

You've made the choices that brought this on
You can't be surprised when you find me withdrawn
You decided my friendship wasn't worth the work
You're the one who made me the jerk

Surprise! Surprise! Look in front of your eyes
Nowhere to be found after all the lies
The one thing I wanted was to be told things straight
Why did you make me always have to debate

The things you say with the things you do
For the life of me, I don't have a clue
You constantly make relationships with the tools
In the end they are used, and just look like fools

You were my friend, one of my oldest
You did what you wanted, one of the boldest
Too bad I'm tired and won't play your game
My emotions are already too badly maimed

I'll miss the fun, I always will
We've had some times with fantastic thrills
I'll miss the jokes, and all the laughter
But it's time for my Happily. Ever. After.
