Vertical blinds can retracted both vertically as well as horizontally. The louvers of the vertical blinds are mostly made of either fabrics or PVC. Fabric ones are more preferable as they are noiseless. If your room has very high ceilings and are not fit for vertical blinds, then you have to install a hanging strip. It can be of wood or metal and the track of the vertical blinds have to be attached to it.

Plants
Another innovative type of room dividers can be obtained using plants. If you use some rare and exotic kind of plants, it would serve both the purposes, of decoration, as well as room division. You can hang wooden frames from the ceiling and place the potted plants on them. The vines of the plants will act as a room divider.
