Onion Soup Mix
Ingredients
- ¾ cup instant minced onion
- ⅓ cup beef flavored instant bouillon
- 1/8 tsp white pepper
- 4 tsp onion powder
- ¼ tsp celery salt
- ¼ tsp sugar
Combine all the ingredients together, and store up to 6 months in a cool, dry place. Stir well before each use. Five tbsp of the mix equals 1.25 oz. pkg. of ready-made dry onion soup mix.
Hamburger Recipes with Onion Soup Mix
Onion Soup Hamburger
Ingredients
- 1½ pounds lean ground beef
- 1 (1 ounce) envelope dry onion soup mix
- ½ onion, finely chopped
- ½ cup shredded Colby or Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp crushed dried rosemary
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
Take a large bowl and mix together the above mentioned ingredients. Form the mixture into 4 patties, and grill for 5 - 7 minutes on a preheated grill until they are crispy brown on both sides. Serve hot on the buns with your favorite condiments.
White Castle Hamburgers
Ingredients
- 1½ lbs ground chuck
- 4 tbsp onion soup mix
- ½ tsp pepper
- 1 egg
- ⅓ cup breadcrumbs
- 24 small square dinner rolls
- 2 tbsp water
- American cheese (optional)
- Pickle
- ½ cup mustard
- ½ cup ketchup
Preheat oven to 400°F and mix ground chuck, onion soup mix, egg, pepper, water and breadcrumbs together. Press this mixture onto an ungreased 10 × 15 inch jelly roll pan and bake for 10 - 12 minutes. Drain out the extra juices, cut in to 24 squares and allow them to cool. Keep the squares on the dinner rolls, and spread mustard and ketchup on the rolls. Top with pickles and cheese, and serve hot.
Cheese Beef Hamburger
Ingredients
- 1½ pounds lean ground beef
- ½ cup shredded Sharp Cheddar cheese
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- ½ white or red onion, finely chopped
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 (1 ounce) package dry onion soup mix
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 egg
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried parsley
- 1 tsp dried basil
- ½ tsp crushed dried rosemary
- A splash of your favorite beer
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tsp liquid smoke (optional)
Preheat the grill and mix all the ingredients in a large bowl. Prepare 4 patties from the mixture, making them about 25% bigger than the buns or bread you'll be using, as while grilling they'll shrink. Cook the patties on the grill for 5 - 7 minutes until they are crispy brown on both sides. Serve hot on the bun or bread with your favorite condiment.
