Halloween Party: Themes And Recipes
A proper blend of horror and humor will make any Halloween party successful, and that is one factor for the host to remember. Halloween is October 31st, one of the most popular dates of the Christian calendar. It is a day to remember the dead and the departed, but it is also a day to have some tongue in cheek humor and generally have a whale of a time. The tradition of celebrating Halloween has existed since a long time, but it does pay to be innovative and make your party unique. Let us check out some interesting Halloween party themes and recipes that you can think of using this year. The themes are suggested according to the age of people who will be attending the party.

For a kids’ Halloween Party

Kids are the ones who enjoy Halloween parties the most. If your party is a kiddies’ party, then you have to make sure that they indeed get their entertainment. Throw in a lot of games. Bobbing for apples has remained the perennial favorite for ages, and people can even eat the apples! But you can be creative and include a whole host of games. Try treasure hunting. Children always enjoy hunting for things. Make the clues difficult so the fun goes on for a longer time.

Speaking of kids’ Halloween party themes, a Harry Potter Halloween theme is a great idea. It would be real fun to see kids dress up as Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco and the lot. If you are an adult, you could be Dumbledore, McGonagall or even Voldemort himself. Make your room décor to resemble Hogwarts as much as you can, and keep all the magic things strewn all over the house. You can even include some great Harry Potter Halloween recipes, including Bertie Botts’ Every Flavored Beans, sugar lemons and chocolate frogs. Employ two or three of the kids to dress up as house elves and cater for the party. The Harry Potter Halloween theme will take time preparing for, but think of all the fun the kids will have.

For a teen Halloween Party

Teenagers are not spooked easily, but you can make every effort to do that with your Halloween party theme. You will need to be drastic here, because teens will never claim they are spooked. Some skeletons popping out of the closet, jacks in the boxes, false floors, etc. will make for interesting ideas. You have to make sure the chills and spills are heard out all right.

Teens will not be much interested in games, but food will count. So some Halloween party recipes for teens are in order. One idea is to have burgers designed as jack-o-lanterns. The best thing with having a teen Halloween party is that you can really gross them out with your recipes and they wouldn’t mind it much. You can have some cocktails or soups with fake eyeballs floating in it. Or have pizzas with some really gross looking (but edible and even delicious!) green topping on it. Have puffs with sausages resembling fingers (complete with tomato sauce blood and all) for the teenagers. Trust me, it will be great fun as the older kids investigate the food and try to make out what it is! Be sure to tell them though, before they decide to throw it away!

For an adult Halloween Party

With adults, you can best have a couple Halloween party theme. Have them turn up dressed as famous horror-dom couples, such as Frankenstein and his bride, Dracula and his dame or even Bonnie and Clyde. If you are not keeping a dress code, keep some Halloween masks at home to set the mood. Halloween masks are not that expensive and you can give them to your guests as they come in.

Adults won’t be playing much, so make sure you pump up the décor to make up for it. If the adults attending your party are bravehearts, you can have a blood and gore theme all around, replete with red lighting in the room. Include a lot of cobwebs and spiders in the corners and strew the room with fake body parts. One interesting Halloween party theme addition for adult guests would be to replace all your furniture with broken sofas, tables and chairs just to add to the feel. You can also have a horror movie playing, or a screaming audio soundtrack.

Food is important. Instead of the Halloween theme recipes, you must put in real filling food. Adults will appreciate a good sumptuous meal, though you can include a pumpkin dessert at the end.

For an older persons’ Halloween Party

Here you will need a laidback theme, and not include many horror elements. The best way is to go traditional. Make several pumpkin lanterns and place them strategically around the house. Have mood lighting and mood music playing from a corner of the room. You can keep some traditional games to keep everyone entertained. Make sure there are no sudden surprises or shocks for your guests.

Food and wine is a prime necessity when you are hosting a Halloween Party for older people. You can try out some Halloween Party recipes, but make the food filling.
