Halloween Masks

Put on those Halloween masks and get into the spirit of the holiday this Allhallows Eve.
Halloween Masks
Where will you be this October 31? Probably at a Halloween costume party, for Halloween and costume parties have become almost synonymous. Most invitation cards say, "Dress up as your favorite ghoul." So, what are you going as? A character from your favorite horror movie? As Michael Myer? Or maybe that old Halloween favorite, Frankenstein, perhaps? Or, how about Hannibal Lecter? Regardless of age, from youngsters to oldsters, all of us seemingly love to turn into ghoulish characters and frighten the wits out of everybody else. And Halloween gives us just that opportunity to do so with impunity.

A major part of the effectiveness of a Halloween costume is the mask. It makes a great accessory to the rest of the get-up. It adds excitement and enigma to any outfit.

With time, Halloween masks have come a long way indeed. From the simplistic plastic masks which used to be slipped on and held in place with an elastic strap to the latex masks and realistic silicone masks available today, that are designed to conform to the face. With one of these on, you could walk straight into the sets of a big-budget Hollywood horror movie. If you really want to enjoy the spirit of Halloween, wearing a mask to go with your costume will do just the trick. Plus, wearing one will give you the self-confidence to really assume the role of your alter ego, since nobody need know your real identity. Which is one of the reasons why most people love wearing masks.

One of the best things about a mask is that it takes minimal effort to make it work. While make-up might work just as well, there is something about covering up with a mask that simply adds to the mystical effect. It’s almost like growing a new personality. And a large part of the Halloween fun is getting into the character of somebody or some creature that you are not. The excitement is about having the freedom to become just about anyone or anything that you choose to, especially if the character is something that is completely alien to your nature.

Whether you want to scare the wits out of the kids in your neighborhood that come trick-or-treating at your front door, or make a scary entry into the Halloween bash you’ve been invited to, you can leave your normal self back in your bedroom, and plunge right into playing the part. With the mask on, everybody in the party will see and interact with who you’ve become, instead of the real person within the costume. And that in itself can be great fun.

So, go ahead, get yourself a Halloween mask, there are a huge variety of choices both on the Internet and in the stores – from zombie masks, to evil clown masks, to UFO creature masks, to Austin Powers masks, to Butterball masks (from the movie Hell Raiser), to Dumbledore masks (from Harry Potter) – you name it. Wear any of these and go ‘Boo’ at your Halloween party !
