Half Life 2 Cheats

If Quake was the muscle of First Person Shooters, Half Life was the brain for the FPS genre of games. One of the most important things that Half Life did was to put together the mindboggling (read mindless) action in a streamlined, storylined way. Veteran gamers still regard Half Life as the game that got people of a higher refined taste interested in Gaming.

Till then, computer gaming was just for social outcasts. Half Life is also considered to have buoyed the financial capabilities of computer gaming, with a vast number of people considering gaming as a normal entertainment exercise due to the intelligence in the game. Simply put, the Half Life franchise of games put normalcy into gaming.

Half Life was also the first ever game to show the game (and earn money) from the viewpoints of every character in the game. The only other way other gaming companies could hide their laziness from creating characters and storylines was by creating sequels, prequels and spin-offs. Half Life was a game of many firsts, and with the advent of new gaming technology, came the much awaited sequel to Half Life, Half Life 2

While Half Life was generally considered way ahead of its time when it was first released in 1997, Half Life 2 saw a complete overhaul of the game. Right from the graphics, the gameplay to the storyline, everything was worked upon. What remained same were the hours gamers would spend racking their brains to solve a particular puzzle, or pump bullets into one alien or another.

Here are some Half Life 2 cheats, tricks and hints to make life easier for people out there who are deciding whether to catch lunch or spend some more time trying to fly the rag tag motorboat above the wall, or deciding to give one last try to either the bricks to get up the platform or keep the door as a plank to climb upwards.

To activate Half Life 2 cheats, you will have to activate the cheat console. This is a bit tricky and requires a fair amount of concentration. Select the Properties of your Half Life Shortcut by right clicking on it. On the properties tab, add -console in the 'target' field. The final result will look something like this:

"C:\Program Files\Half-Life 2\hl2.exe" -console

It is suggested that you make any changes after creating another shortcut to the game. This depends on which drive and which folder you have installed/saved your game. Once you have done this, press the tilde (~) key while in the game. You are now ready to key in the HL2 Cheats and cheat codes.

God - God mode (server side only)
Give - Gives a weapon or an Item (see the list below)
Buddha - Reduces your health
Hurtme # - Hurts the player (# is damage amount)
Impulse 101- All weapons
Impulse 82 - Spawns a jeep
Notarget - Player becomes hidden to NPCs
Noclip - Walk through walls (server side only)
sv_gravity # - Set gravity to #
sv_stopspeed # - Set minimum stopping speed when on ground to #
sv_friction # - Sets world friction to #
sv_bounce # - Sets bounce multiplier for physically simulated objects collision
sv_maxvelocity # - Sets the maximum velocity of any moving object to #
sv_waterdist # - Sets vertical view fixup when eyes are near water plane to #
air_density # - Changes the density of air to #
