Half Destined Half Cursed - Chapter 2

"So exactly why are we going to this party?" Matt asked me as we walked down the street of where the party was.
"Because my father told me to." I sighed and he looked at me.
"What?" I asked him.
"What's the real reason?" He asked me and I bit my lip and looked away.
"You can't tell me?" He guessed and I shook my head.
"No it's not that, I trust you but it's more like you'll refuse to come with me." I said looking at him and he smiled.

"Don't worry I can handle whatever it is." He promised and I sighed.
"I sure hope you'll stick to that." I muttered and he looked at me to start talking.
"I've been assigned to bodyguard someone." I said and he nodded.
"Who?" He asked and we arrived at the house.
"Kyo Kuro." I said and he looked like he was ready to punch somebody.
"Let's go." He said walking away but I grabbed his hand.
"Look I know you don't like nine-tailed foxes." I said.
"I like them but I hate him." He said in a low voice and I looked back at the party and then at him. I let go of his hand and he looked at me.

"You can go if you want but I have to go and find him." I said and turned on my heel and walked away. I walk through the crowd of people dancing to the music and tried to spot him.
"Excuse me." I said squeezing through the crowd. Someone bumped me and I nearly fell but hands caught my arms and I looked up.
Kyo Kuro was standing there smiling at me.
"Careful there you might get hurt." He said giving me a charming smile. I stood up right and took my arms away.
"Thanks." I said and started looking around.

"Looking for someone?" He asked and wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me close to him. I looked at him with my eyes widened.
"Let me go." I said trying to get free but that just made him tighten his grip more. His eyes quickly flashed white or something and I became mesmerized by him. He leaned in closer to me and I did the same. We were inches apart and were about to kiss when Matt barged in.
"Let her go you fox." He said angrily and grabbed my arm and shielded me from him.
"I didn't know dogs attended parties. I thought you'd be too busy howling at the moon or something." Kyo said and Matt just looked at him in disgust. Kyo looked at me and I glared at him.

"So you must be my bodyguard." He said and Matt shielded me even more.
"And you are?" He asked Matt and Matt growled at him. I stepped around Matt and looked at Kyo.
"This is Matt Holland." I said.
"A werewolf no doubt I can smell his wet dog smell from here." Kyo said covering his nose.
"What'd you say?" Matt asked angrily and I held my hand up at him.
"Calm down." I said.
"Yes control your dog please." Kyo said and I looked at him.

"Shut up." I said and he looked shocked but nodded. I sighed and rubbed my eyes and looked back at him.
"I'm Katara Gangel." I said holding my hand out and he took it and kissed it. I slapped him across the face and he laughed.
"Feisty, I like that." He said and Matt looked like he was ready to punch him.
"Look just go and do what you normally do. I'll be in the corner keeping an eye out." I said and he looked disappointed.
"Aw and here I wanted to get to know you better." He said and I rolled my eyes.

"Don't push it." I warned and walked away and sat at a table in the corner of the room. Matt sat at a chair opposite of me and he looked exhausted.
"I really hate that guy." He muttered and leaned on his elbow.
"You and me both." I agreed and he grumbled something that I couldn't quite catch. I highly doubt it was anything important so I just let it slide. I kept my eye on Kyo though, he was trying to pick up some girl and it worked. Soon they were making out and I could see that his tails were about to show.

Your tails are about to show I thought and I knew he could hear me. His tails didn't show anymore and I sighed in relief.
Thanks for the heads up he sent me a message back in my head and I nodded. Matt noticed this and looked at Kyo and then back at me.
"Please don't tell me you two were talking in that weird psychic way." Matt complained and I looked at him.
"His tails were about to show. I just warned him that's all." I said and Matt again grumbled something that I didn't catch and again I doubt it was anything important.

The rest of the night went by in a blur. Kyo flirted with girls and danced and even Matt got asked to dance. I told him to go and I sat alone, watching for any movement. Every once in a while Kyo would look over at me but I pretended to not notice. It was around eleven that I started getting tired and sleepy that I went up to Kyo while he was dancing.
"Come on we're leaving." I said and he smiled at me while the girl looked seriously pissed off.
"You can't go." She complained and grabbed his arm.

"We're leaving now." I said in a harsh voice and grabbed her arm off him and pushed him to the entrance, and onto the street.
"Well aren't you a ray of sunshine." Kyo said sarcastically and I ignored this. Matt appeared next to me and I looked at Kyo.
"Where are you staying at? I need to walk you home." I told him and he grinned.
"You haven't been told yet have you?" He asked and I frowned.
"What are you talking about?" I asked and my phone started ringing in my pocket. I picked it up and saw my father was calling and I answered it.

"Hello?" I asked.
"One last thing that I forgot to mention. Kyo will be staying with you for the time being." He said and my mouth fell open.
"You've got to be kidding me!" I protested.
"I'm sorry but that's just how it is. He'll also be attending school with you so have fun." He said a little too cheerfully and hung up. I stared at the phone in disbelief and Kyo cleared his throat. I looked at him and he had a massive grin on his face.
"Let's go." I said and started walking with Kyo on one side and Matt on the other.
"Where's he staying?" Matt asked me.
"With me." I said and kept walking.
