Hail Damage: Atlanta Roofing Contractors

Atlanta roofing contractors have been swamped due to all the hail damage in the metro and surrounding counties. Due to all the storm damage in Georgia, it may be in your best interest to get a roof inspection.
Many homeowners have significant hail damage to their roofs. The Atlanta area has been hit the hardest to say the least. A major storm has struck the Atlanta area for the past three years. In 2008, the downtown area was hit with a category 4 Tornado. The damage was severe due to the high winds and large hail stones. There was a major storm cell that struck much of Georgia on February 18, 2009. The amount of hail damage is grand and widespread to say the least throughout the state of Georgia.

The Atlanta roofing contractors in the metro area have been very busy for the past 36 months. Homeowners have been requesting roof inspections for hail and wind damage. Interestingly enough, insurance companies have been requesting roofing contractors to help mitigate claims. The amount of hail damaged roofs is so overwhelming that roofing companies have came from other states to assist with roof replacements.

As a homeowner in Atlanta, I had to have my roof replaced as well. The roof system was torn to shreds by golf ball size hail. Our roof began to leak around the chimney and in our dinning room. Our insurance agent advised us that we should cover our roof with a tarp until the adjuster from their office could evaluate the damage to our home. The insurance company reimbursed us the funds for the the installation of a tarp covering.

The insurance adjusters teamed up with many of the Atlanta roofing contractors to expedite the replacement of roofs in the metro and surrounding areas. Homeowners have been receiving checks on the spot to complete the roof installations as long as they have a signed contract with a roofing company. However, there are times when depreciation funds will be withheld until all construction and repairs are completed in full. This occurs when a homeowner does not have a signed a contract a roofing company. The insurance adjuster is not allowed to release all the funds without a signed contract between the homeowner and the roofing company.

The hail damage homes have first priority in getting their roofs replaced due to all the leaks associated with the storm. Shingle suppliers are giving priority to storm damaged homes prior to elective roof replacements. The shingle manufactures have increased their production in order to keep up with the amount of material being used by the Atlanta roofing contractors. The average time is between 2 to 3 weeks for the roof replacement to be completed.

Many homeowners on the outskirts of Atlanta have reported hail damage as well. These claims are beginning to escalate as neighbors begin to spread the word. Their are some areas outside the city limits that have minor damage whereas others have been hit hard with straight line winds and large hail stones. Insurance adjusters have found damage as far away as 100 miles from the Atlanta area.

The amount of homes that have been affected by hail damage is still unknown and the numbers may not be available for another 2 years. While homeowners are concerned with the rise of their insurance premiums, if you have damage to your roof system, it is in your best interest to report a claim within 1 year from the date of the incident. The claim should not raise your premiums for it is considered an act of nature. You have no fault or blame for the damage to your home.

Finally, you as the homeowner will be fully responsible for mitigating your insurance claim. The statue of limitations is 1 year from the date of the storm. The Atlanta roofing contractors will be busy as the storm season continues, so if you have any questions our concerns, it might be in your best interest to have your roof system inspected as soon as possible.
