Gwyneth Paltrow Fretting Her CMA Appearance

Gwyneth Paltrow is already nervous about her scheduled appearance at the CMAs on Wednesday night, where she will perform Country Strong live on stage.
The promoters for Country Strong are really pulling out all the stops in pushing the upcoming Gwyneth Paltrow film. In addition to the standard talk show circuit and advertising campaigns, Paltrow is going to take the stage at the Country Music Awards on Wednesday night and will actually perform live on stage during the show.

Paltrow has been coached by some of the best - her costar in the film is none other than Tim McGraw. And, her character in the film is kind of a down-and-out singer attempting a comeback, so maybe a lackluster performance can be explained as "staying in character." Either way, Paltrow's going to have an intense spotlight on her on Wednesday night - and the vast majority of the viewing public will be watching to see the potential train wreck unfold.

Gwyneth seems to be the caliber of performer, however, that probably won't go out there and bomb. It's more likely that she'll put forth a steady performance and will draw praise and nit-picky criticism from those who wish to offer it.

What will be most interesting is how and if country music fans embrace her new movie. The fact that she's got McGraw by her side as the lead male character makes it unlikely that the film is going to flop. Tim McGraw alone can probably guarantee a profitable venture, as long as the production costs are reasonable. If it turns out that people actually like the songs from the film, well then Gwyneth could be sitting on a legacy-maker in terms of her film career.
