Guilin Travel - My Amazing Guilin Sightseeing
Guilin and Yangshuo is a paradise for anyone who wants a relaxed vacation. I documented my sightseeing footsteps there, it's truly a wonderful place.
Guilin is the capital city of this province. It is surrounded by karst rocks, and is very attractive.
We made some plans - withdraw some money, book flight tickets to kunming, etc.
We got to chuanshan park, by chance (we didn't ask for it), where we went only to the stalactite-stalagmite cave, which is a waste of time and money. The reed flute cave is a magnificent stalactite-stalagmite cave.
We went to see a very beautiful place-the "Princes Palace", with a vast rock in the far side of it, with a famous temple on top.
The food and hotel, until now, have been very cheap - 60-80 rmb for a decent meal for two, and a room for two for about 72 or less. But now we have expensive admissions.
At 21:00 we went to eat: the streets are full of well-designed shops and people. We lost our way back, as we couldn’t find the Chinese address on the hotel outlook.
At 23:00 the situation turned bad. We asked every person along for the ride, until one girl could speak English, understood us and brought us to a taxi driver. He drove fairly long, through dark streets, as they lock all the shops at 23:00. It won’t happen again: we have learnd the lesson!
25.8.2009 - Yangshuo (Bamboo (new) house inn)
The cruise to Yangshuo was very pleasant, and felt like an organized, air-conditioned tour. Once to feel like westerns.
At Yangshou a guide called Wendy joined us as we landed. She composed a trip for tomorrow according to our demands. She kept saying that she is the cheapest, and also showed us a book with Hebrew testimonials supporting her claim, but mom felt something is not right. That day we ran into Ping (her real name), another guide, who gave us the same tour for 100-200 yuan less.
We went with ping. Both guides were very nice to us.
At night we went to see the famous Yangshuo Impression Liu San Jie Show performance on the river Li - it was wonderful! We have never seen such a show before: The performance takes place on the river and on the 2 banks: They light the river & mountains around from time to time, many actors, costumes, songs - fantastic music.
The moon hill - a hill with a hole in it, makes it an attraction. The climb was a little difficult, going in a forest, until we reached the top, when it became not that hard.
Raft on the Yulong river- the Yulong river reminded me of the yarkon river - green, quiet, not very wide-that ends the similarity. Sitting on a bamboo-raft (not to be mystified with "rafting" - it doesn't go very speedy), sailing slowly across the river, surrounded by nature and gorgeous mountains which was great and very comforting.
The water cave: vast cave(hundred meters long and high), a lighted pathway gives you the chance to go by yourself. You go through the cave with a boat, it has stalactites (not so nice), the highlights are: a mud pool and small pools of hot springs.
Yangshou by night is incredibly extreme remarkable: the main avenue is full of pubs with loud music, restaurants, shops, lights, music players on street etc.
