Ingredients for Guacamole
Ripe Avocados: A ripe avocado should be firm and just soft enough, and not squishy. It should have no damaged marks or discoloration.
Chilies: Chilies add spice and flavor to the guacamole dip. The dip should be mildly spicy, so one can choose between Serrano chillies or very little jalapeño.
Onions: Onions should be pink in color. Make sure they are not soft on the inside.
Cilantro: Cilantro adds flavor to the dip. Make sure it's fresh and clean, before adding to the guacamole.
Lemon: The lemons you choose should have a rich, yellow color. Avoid the spotty ones.
Tomatoes: This recipe needs small chopped tomatoes, hence choose ripe but firm ones.
Salt and Pepper: Use good quality salt and black pepper.
Easy to Make Guacamole Recipe
Ingredients
- ripe avocados, 2
- minced onion, ½ cup
- ripe tomatoes, ½ - chopped (seeds and pulp removed)
- serrano chilies, 2 - de-seeded and minced
- cilantro leaves, 2 tbsps - finely chopped
- fresh lemon juice, 1 tbsp
- salt, ½ tsp
- black pepper, ¼ tsp - freshly pounded
Cut avocados in half and de-seed it. Scoop out all flesh and put it in a large mixing bowl. Mash the scooped flesh with a fork. Add the chopped onion, fresh cilantro, lemon juice, salt and pepper; mash and mix some more. Add the minced chilies; do not let it come in contact with your hand, as they are very hot. Your guacamole is ready to be served. Just before serving, add chopped tomatoes and mix. If one does not want to serve immediately, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate it. Do not add chopped tomatoes, unless ready to serve.
