Ground Beef Taco Recipes

Mexican cuisines are varied, delicious and famous all over the world. Out of these, tacos are their traditional food recipe with chopped vegetables and/or meat, rolled in corn or flour tortilla. With so many filling options, you can prepare tacos as per your diet menu and taste. Also, taco shells are readily available in food stores, the only effort involved is to cook the fillings. And as per your choice, you can make soft tortilla or fry the tortilla to make it crispy. Best Ground Beef Taco

Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean, ground beef
  • 2 cups shredded Mexican cheese
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 2 cups shredded lettuce
  • 1 teaspoon canola oil
  • ½ cup finely-chopped onion
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup water
  • 8 taco shells
Directions

Preheat oven to about 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Heat oil in a thick skillet over medium flame. Saute onions for 2-3 minutes, until they become translucent. Add ground beef and cook, till the meat turns light brown. Stir in garlic powder, cumin, chili powder and salt. Add water and bring the dish to boil. Reduce heat and simmer for another 10-12 minutes or till the gravy thickens.

In a non-sticky baking sheet, place taco shells and bake them for about 4-5 minutes till they are toasted lightly. Remove toasted shells and keep aside. While serving, place cooked taco beef, taco shells, lettuce, salsa and shredded cheese in different plates and allow your guests to serve on their own. Or else, put lettuce and taco shells first on the serving plate and top with meat, salsa and cheese. If possible, serve this ground beef taco with guacamole.

Easy Ground Beef Taco

Ingredients
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 medium-sized onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 teaspoon cooking oil
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 package taco seasoning mix
  • ½ cup water
  • 10-12 taco shells
Directions

In a medium flame, heat a large, thick skillet. Heat oil and saute onion till golden brown. Add ground beef and cook for about 5 minutes. If you are strict on your calorie intake, you can drain excess fat. Then stir in ketchup, taco seasoning mix and water. Reduce heat to medium low and simmer the dish for about 20-25 minutes, stirring in between. Place taco shells, fill them with cooked ground beef meat and wrap properly. Serve hot beef tacos with garnishes and shredded cheese (optional).

Ground Beef Taco Seasoning

For extra spiciness, you can serve ground beef tacos with seasonings. For making your own ground beef taco seasoning, you need:

Ingredients
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
Directions

In a mixing bowl, combine together all the ingredients listed above for making ground beef taco seasonings - chili powder, cumin powder, black pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, paprika and red pepper flakes. Stir well the mixture with a spoon. Use this seasoning while serving ground beef tacos. You can also preserve the unused seasoning in an airtight container for future use.
