Greyhound Bus Ride - Part 2

This article picks up where I left off in the first one where I am taking my first Greyhound bus ride at 62 years young. As I had detached retina surgeries at Emory in Atlanta in 1996, that never repaired the damage, I now have to rely on public transportation or friends.
My trip up to my destination Greenville, North Carolina resulted in me missing my connection bus from Raleigh since we had a fire on our bus about 60miles from Raleigh. I would have had to wait 13 HOURS for another bus to Greenville so my friend came the 125 miles to pick me up. NO apology from Greyhound!

On my return trip from Greenville I started to ask other passengers about their problems with double booking as I discussed in the first article. You see Greyhound will sell more seats than the 55 seats on a bus causing people to miss their bus like the senior citizen in the Raleigh station who told me that she had been sitting since 6AM waiting to get a bus and it was close to 4PM! People kept jumping up and beating her to the line. I think this is a travesty!

I know for a fact that when I ride MARTA in Atlanta I hear repeatedly on the buses' PA system that FEDERAL law REQUIRES that seniors and handicapped people be given the front seats. NOT on Greyhound!

Here's a story that Paula told me regarding her horror story concerning her mentally challenged daughter or sister, Patricia. She told me that the majority of the Greyhound buses were not handicapped friendly. For instance, the onboard bathrooms evidently were NOT handicapped accessible. I can't verify this as I chose not to use the onboard bathroom. Also Greyhound personnel were less than helpful and courteous when she had to board a bus with Patricia.

Come on, Greyhound, let's put in a Customer Service program for ALL employees that handles problems like this and makes life easier for the passengers who are paying YOU!

Sabrina, who was a young mother with two very young children, had paid an extra $55 so that she would not have to lug her big luggage herself from bus to bus. So what happens? Greyhound loses the luggage! After waiting over 12 hours wondering where her luggage was it was finally found. Where? On the SAME bus it had been on!

Have you thought of placing RFD tags on people's luggage, Greyhound? If Wal-Mart uses them successfully to track sales and restocking, do you think that it might find luggage too?

Greyhound, the dregs of society are not your passengers of today like the past! Today people are traveling Greyhound like 20 year old University of Alabama junior, Danielle, who had decided to come back early from a trip that she took on the airlines to New York. She lost her money on her return air trip and being a struggling college student had decided to take Greyhound. She informed me that this had been the worst decision she could make and would NEVER use it again! She was far from the dregs of society as she could have been a run way model however she is studying International Studies and plans to go on to graduate school.

Debbie mentioned in the first article was a retired New York police officer. George, who was one of the most intellectually informed people I have met in a long time, was a skycap for Air Tran.

WAKEUP Greyhound!
