Green tea originated in China, but has become a favorite in most of the countries around the world. It is used for detoxification and also has other health benefits to offer. Green tea detox became famous after it was used by the renowned celebrity Oprah Winfrey.

Green tea detox also helps in reducing LDL cholesterol present in the body. LDL cholesterol is the 'bad kind' of cholesterol, responsible for heart ailments. In case of a heart attack, drinking green tea helps in recovering from the ailment, faster. Green tea diminishes the damage caused by LDL. It helps in energizing the body and gives the body a sense of well-being. It is a thirst quencher and also helps in digestion by washing down all the oily and greasy food that is being consumed.

Brewing Green Tea

Green tea should be half brewed, unlike the black tea. Green tea leaves need room to expand, so that the health benefits are added to water. They should be allowed to steep in the water for a few minutes. Milk is not added to green tea, although lemon juice can be added. To some types of green tea, almonds can also be added.
