Great Hearts Think Alike... Do Minds? - Chapters 1 and 2

Miklia James is an average girl with abnormal IQ. She's also straitlaced. Everything has to be to perfection. Kade Blaylock is an all around bad boy who lives up to his threats. He has a secret though; he is as genius as Miklia is. They come from different backgrounds. He's poor and she's rich. Kade suddenly has a scholarship to her private school. What will happen when they meet? A picture of Kade.
Chapter One: Scholarship Bad Boy

"Kade," My mother called from our kitchen/living/dining room. Our apartment had only two more rooms. The bathroom/laundry room and me and my mom's bedroom. I came later to my mother like a dog.

"Yes?" She still had on that stern face from me getting suspended but it had softened into a grim determination to set me straight. My mom had long black hair and hazel eyes. Her skin was milky white and she worked as a waitress at the local dinner in Colton Hall. She also worked hard to keep me straight, so I wouldn't turn out like my dad. A man who had killed five people. He had turned into a sociopath, it seemed. I never knew him other than the first three years of my life.

And being as I was a baby, I don't remember a thing. My mom says I'm lucky. I believe her. I watched from behind overgrown bangs and her eyes tightened.

"I'll have to cut your hair again...," She said, "Anyway, the thing is, you have a letter from CPS."

CPS. Colton Private School. I had taken test to get into the private school. I had been told my test score was beyond good. I had no clue what that meant. I assume the letter is to decline my enrollment. My mom's hazel eyes clouded with worry over my future.

She handed me a white envelope with an official stamp and the both the address of our apartment complex and the schools. I had never held something so... official. It was like this envelope would decide my life. Without further thought, I tore the thing open and my mom cringed at the sound.

I unfolded the paper and scanned the words and I read aloud, "We are pleased to announce that Kaden Micheal Blaylock Junior is accepted to Colton Private School." I heard my mom's shriek of joy and she wrapped her arms around me.

Chapter Two: Torture in the Form of Books

I stared fixedly at the pale blue walls as my mother talked to the secretary. You'd think since I'm 17 now that I wouldn't have to start my first day as a "mama's boy". Nope, not for me. I could practically hear the rumors of the new guy being clingy. I would try to not let it faze me but like my last school, fights will be broken out. At Colton High Public School I had been in at least 15 fights that weren't discovered and 5 that were.

I felt my brain go numb as the conversation in front of me lengthened. Suddenly a gorgeous girl walked in with a very purple outfit. My favorite color. She stood with a stack of books in her hands and she looked to be having trouble with them. I stood before I knew it and I steady the stack and took three books.

She looked up and I saw orbs of blue stare back at me, "Thanks, Guy."

"It's Kade," I informed her. As if she'd care, though. She nodded and I witnessed her file away the information in her head.

"Miklia. Can you help me bring these to the library?" She asked and I glanced back at my mom.

"Hey mom, I'm going to help the girl with her books." I said and my mom barely glanced up with a nod. I then followed Miklia out into the halls. As we walked, I stressed over the fact that I might not be able to find my way back to the administration office.

As if reading my thoughts she looked back, her blonde hair swaying as she did so, and she said, "I'll walk you back."

We soon arrived at a big oak door and because she had more books to carry, I opened it. She stepped past me and I caught the scent of sweet perfume. Man, I could follow that scent all day. She led me to the front desk and plopped the books on a ledge. I did the same.

Miklia turned to me, "Thanks. You're not as mean as you look."

I felt my back stiffen. What did that mean? I was tall, yes, muscled, kinda, and I had overgrown hair but that didn't mean I was overall intimidating. I resisted glaring at her. I did growl. I had learned to growl from the heavy metal bands I like. The odd sound reached her ears and she frowned.

"That is so weird."

I shook my head in frustration at the offending comment. I turned on my heel and left the library without another glance. And I soon got so lost I felt if I looked, I'd be in a different world.

Author's Note

This one is a short because I was short of time. I'll try to make the next chapter longer.

I've decided to do this new story and will continue with the previous 'Amor Immortalis' later. To the people who commented on the prologue, thanks so much. Your comments meant a lot.
