Great Gift Ideas for Mom

Whenever I ask my mother what she wants as a gift, be it on her birthday, my first salary or mother's day, she has the same response, "the best gift ever given to me is standing in front of me. Can you top that? I don't think so!". Mothers are the substitute to God because He can't be everywhere. It is not just our mom who is special. Yes, our own moms are way more special to us. But, moms in general are a very special breed of people. I believe they are elite. It takes a very special woman to be a mother. An ability that not all can handle. Considering that mothers are so special, here is my attempt at helping you out to give her a great birthday or mother's day gift.

Out of the Blue
Considering that moms have an ability to predict our behavior, giving her a gift out of the blue might give her a surprise and bring that blissful smile on her face.

• First on this list is a great book. If your mom is a book freak like mine, then a good read is always welcome. If you come across a book that she may like, pick it up for her. Wrap is up and gift it to her after dinner. I am sure she will love it.
• The next is a gift for her when she is planning a small trip. It could be for business, vacation or just shopping. Buy her a travel bag set. Ok! Now, this gift can't be given very often, otherwise your mom will get sick of the bag sets. However, try getting her the most trendy bag set you can find. That should be a good incentive to use it.
• Moms, no matter how old they get, always try to look their best. Aging gracefully is a must for all moms. You could help her out by buying her a make-up set. Agreed, it is something that she may already have. But a make up set will show that you still think she is beautiful and young. Trust me, she will love it.
• A bouquet also works wonders on mom. If on one fine day, you are in a great mood, pick up a gorgeous bouquet of her favorite flowers and give it to her the moment you enter the house with a big smile. The confusion on her face will be priceless, as will the smile that will follow it.
• A spa appointment is something that most mom's need but don't have the time to get. Make a spa appointment for your mom and make sure she keeps it. On a random day, the gift of a spa treatment can be a very welcome surprise.

These gifts can be given to improve her mood, in case she is going through particular amount of stress or anxiety.

On Her Birthday
Mom's birthday is important. Very important. In my case, my mother considers it a gift when I REMEMBER her birthday! Jokes aside, let's check out birthday gifts that will make mommy happy on her birthday.

• If mom is fond of making and keeping memories, a digital camera would make a great gift for her. This would not only make it easier for her to click and preview the photograph, but also share it with everybody.
• Awards make all women emotional. You can give your mom a "best mom in the world" trophy. Make it special and get her name printed on it as well. You can also give a little speech before you present it to her.
• You can try kidnapping your mom on her birthday. Take her for a vacation and inform her of your presence when you reach the destination. The relief when she sees you and the excitement will lead to a very memorable birthday for her. Choose a destination that is not too far away and within a couple of hour's reach from the house.
• A promise ring can be a good gift for your mother on her birthday. If there is something that she wants you to make a part of your lifestyle, then gift her a promise ring, promising her that you will try to do what she needs you to do and will always love her.
• A very special birthday gift for you mom would be having a surprise party for her, with all her childhood friends. Moms tend to lose contact with old friends because of the hectic life that they lead. This party will help them get together and let nostalgia take over.

Birthday gifts don't always have to be materialistic. Sentimental birthday gifts are often cherished for longer. Love is an emotion that thrives on expression. If you feel it, you show it.
