Graying Hair Causes
- Gray hair is caused due to lack of required nutrients in one's diet. If a person's diet lacks in vitamin B12, mineral copper and an amino acid named 'phenylalanine', which is found in dairy products, it can cause premature graying of hair.
- One of the graying hair causes, over which a person has no control is hereditary factors, i.e., if the parents acquired gray hair at a very young age, the same can be inherited by the person.
- A person who is under stress or depression or leads a very busy lifestyle with no time to even take a break, may get premature gray hair.

Amaranath

Indian Gooseberry
Also known as 'Amla', Indian gooseberry has been one of the most widely used graying hair remedies in the eastern countries since ages. To make its oil, cut the gooseberries into small pieces and dry them out completely. Later, boil them along with coconut oil. Let the mixture cool, remove the gooseberries from it and then apply it on the scalp.
Curry Leaves
Curry leaves are believed to keep the hair roots strong and get the hair pigmentation back, especially if applied on the hair along with coconut oil. For graying hair prevention, simply boil the curry leaves in coconut oil and apply the resultant mixture on the hair twice a week.
Henna
Make a paste by combining henna, castor oil and lemon juice. Apply it on the scalp and hair and let it sit for about three hours. It will help in conditioning the hair, covering the gray, as well as making the hair roots strong.
Copper-rich Foods
Graying of hair could be caused due to the lack of mineral copper in the diet. Foods such as oysters, almonds, cashews, sunflower seeds and crab contain a substantial amount of copper in them, so including these in the diet helps in graying hair prevention.

Including foods in the diet that provide the body with adequate amounts of iodine and iron help with premature graying of hair too. Foods such as fish, bananas, carrots, and almost all the vegetables and fruits, keep the hair healthy and strong.
Vitamin B12 Foods
Deficiency of vitamin B12 in the diet can be overcome by including foods such as fish, eggs, meat, poultry, yogurt, nuts, soybean, wheat and green leafy vegetables. So, make these foods a part of the diet for graying hair prevention.
Foods with Folic Acid
Another gray hair natural remedy is to include foods that provide the body with folic acid. Foods such as liver, kidney, chicken, egg yolk, almonds, lentils, wheat flour, potato, spinach, beetroot, asparagus, oranges, bananas, peaches and broccoli are very good sources of folic acid, and hence eating them regularly helps in graying hair treatment.
