Grass Seed Planting Tips
Right from day one of planting grass seed, complete care must be taken for proper germination and growth. Read on to get the grass seed planting tips.

Condition for Germination of Grass Seeds
Germination of grass takes place from very tiny seeds. Grass being a surface plant, needs extreme care during its growth phase. The tiny plantlets are vulnerable to different elements of nature. They might get stamped or eaten by birds, pets or kids might even run over them. A little carelessness can easily damage them. Apart from this, optimal temperature, weather and soil conditions, sunlight, etc should be provided for their germination.
Oxygen
The seeds need to respire in order to carry out all metabolic functions. Oxygen supports growth of the seeds. For adequate supply of oxygen, the soil needs to be aerated properly. It should not be compact or water logged.
Soil
The soil should be prepared well before planting the seeds. Different soil conditions are required for different varieties of grass. Make the soil loose with wheel barrel or break it into parts. You may add organic fertilizers and ensure that the soil is free from chemicals.
Temperature
Grass seed planting temperature is one of the most important factors for germination of seeds. It is important to know the climatic conditions, conducive for a particular seed type. Normally, the temperature for hot season is above 60°C and for cool season, above 40°C.
Water
The seeds must be adequately moistened during the initial phase of growth. If the soil is extremely dry and devoid of moisture, the seeds fail to germinate. Water plays a significant role in the sprouting process, but make sure the water doesn't clog or stagnate.
Sunlight
Appropriate sunlight is required to support the vital processes in plant. Sunlight helps in sprouting and photosynthesis. The seeds should not be buried deep down the soil and should be in the proximity of sunrays.
