Grants for First Time Home Buyers
The government of United States, as well as some non-profit organizations, have initiated the scheme of grants for first time home buyers. This is to reduce the after effects of the sub-prime lending crisis and real estate that shook the economy from 2007 to the early 2010.

First Time Home Buyer Grants
As mentioned above, for first time home buyers the government annually sanctions some grants. Here is a list of all such possible grants, which all first time home buyers can avail.
- First Time Home Buyers: The most basic of all housing grants is the first time home buyers grant which is given by the federal government's. The grant is provided by the Federal government's Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These free grants for first time home buyers are the most commonly availed ones, as they pay a percent of the closing cost or the translational cost, which reduces the burden of the person's shoulders. People with incomes between $75,000 and $150,000 can make an application for this loan.
- American Dream Down Payment Act: The United States government, headed by President George Bush undertook the passing and enforcing of this act to provide for housing grants. This act grants $10,000 or 6% of the total cost for loan for the home buyer. These Federal grants, however, have some requisites and the applicant's income is not supposed to exceed 80% of the area median income, as calculated by the government. The grant is being administrated by the HUD. It must be noted that this down payment grant is also applicable for single parents.
- Down Payment Gift Assistance: A common method of purchasing a home is getting a mortgage loan for the property. The down payment however proves to be a big burden for most home buyers. Hence government has initiated the down payment gift assistance for this purpose. A person qualifying in the low-income group can avail this grant.
- Veterans Housing Grants: The HUD Veteran resource center, also provides a considerable volume of resources to veterans who have served for prolonged war and peace time duties. The veterans can get mortgage assurance, assassinate and in several cases a mortgage insurance to purchase their homes. These grants for home buying however depend upon the number of years for which the person has served.
- Housing Choice Voucher Program: In order to encourage real estate purchase among low-income groups the HUD has initiated the Housing Choice Voucher Program, where in grant assistance is provided for lease, lease option and purchase of housing facility.
