Grand River Fall Colors… A Southern Ontario River of Fire

Grand River Fall Colors… A Southern Ontario River of Fire
From the end of September to mid October, discover Southern Ontario’s river of autumn fire… splashed with burnt orange and hickory yellows. Watch as each paddle stroke opens the canvas of the Carolinian forest. Listen as blue jays announce your entrance into the Grand River Valley.

Here is an experience where the sun warms your back and the whole valley is a river of fire before you. The beauty of the forested hills is fragile… easily dispelled by the wind. Even the steely waters reflect color. Every breath inhales the fragrance of leaves. And there is an autumn silence here... as if no one has been there. It is hard to believe that busy cities lie beyond this horizon of rest.

Autumn Fall Colors are offered 7 days a week. People can travel guided or unguided by canoe, kayak or raft. The river averages 3 feet in depth and offers a variety of pools & swifts with nothing too intimidating. Paddling the river is the perfect way to enjoy the full color of this valley.

The 8 man rafts are the most preferred boat because everyone can travel together regardless of age, size or skill. These rafts don’t tip allowing everyone to be on the river in total safety. The trips are 2.5 to 4 hours in length. There are stops to hike or picnic… even swimming for the bold. Prices start at $125 for six people self guided to $180 for six with a guide. For more information on a fall colour paddle visit Autumn Fall Colors on the Grand River

Grand River Rafting is unique in their service. Customers can choose their own start times. Paddle times are deliberately shortened to allow more interaction with the river & valley around. The guides are not there for an A to B paddle. Their purpose is to help explore, learn and experience as much of the valley as possible. Their goal is to spend the day with you the way they would with friends.

Overnight accommodations and restaurant arrangements can be made with the rafting company. Along with River Ridge Bed & Breakfast, there is the elegant Arlington Hotel in Paris with fine dining. And the famous Camp 31 is always open with its award winning southern barbecue ribs & chicken. For the more rustic… there is Pinehurst Conservation Area and Brant Park Conservation Area for nearby camping.

The Grand River Rafting Company in Paris is a virtual website that meets you at the different trip starting points. They have a very accommodating staff to assist you in trip arrangements and to answer your questions. Their goal is to insure that your experience in the valley is truly a "Grand Experience". Reservations can be made by contacting info@grandriverrafting.ca or calling toll free to 1-866-286-7722.

If you are looking for something different this autumn… this is the place to be.
