Good Reasons Why You're All Messed Up and What You Can Do About It

If tears are always raining down on you and you can't make heads or tails as to why you're always struggling to get a grip of yourself, pause for a while and ponder on this: there must be something totally wrong with how you approach life.

It's All About You

Although laying the blame on circumstances and other people is the easiest way to evade feeling remorseful and hurt, it does nothing to change the fact that no other recourse could've been as cowardly. As hard as this is for your pride to take, you always have a hand in everything that happens to you unless overwhelming external influences beyond you (accidents, catastrophes, domino effect generated by others' doings, etc.) step in and take you by surprise.

Simply put, when it comes to how you manage yourself as you go through life, you would always be the one in control. Developing your resiliency from the adverse effects of mental stress resulting from your personal hurdles is a matter entirely dependent on you alone. No matter how difficult things can get, a hardy persona possessed with a strong will in absolute control of his behaviour and attitudes would never crumble too easily.

Looking Within and What You Can Do

Finding yourself all messed up, with your mind all over the place and a rapidly declining self-esteem, can be easily resolved given you have the will to take a very good look at yourself and your actions and see what improvements you must make. To give you a hand in how to proceed with self-assessment, here are some actions you might have unconsciously been practicing, paired with corrective helpful suggestions, for you to consider.

When you have a problem, you are liable to brood and sulk instead of face it and seek a solution.

Whenever something goes wrong, feeling bad is nothing short of a normal, natural reaction. However, dwelling on the problem and savoring the pain too much can immobilize you. Thoughts are magnificent things. As intangible as they are, they possess tremendous power capable of moving mountains and creating differences.

When used positively, they can effect dramatic changes to a person's life simply because the person himself has been modified from within. Used negatively, however, they are just as potent. But the effects are likewise negative. Thus, to get the most out of them, use them positively and encourage only positive thoughts to prevail in your mind.

Bad feelings and thoughts are intended to alert you that there is something wrong; hence, you should do something about it. Use negative thoughts to keep you aware of what you're doing instead of having them flood your entirety. With focus and determination, you can turn yourself into an effective problem solver instead of a depressive worrywart.

You lose your perspective easily.

Every time troubles arise, you are immediately engulfed and overwhelmed that you lose sight of the truth: since you are involved, you can definitely do something about it. The overpowering emotions of anxiety, despair, and dread accumulate in your head that you find it hard to settle your mind, much less decide on the best course of action to take. Sometimes, you just opt to deliberately turn a blind eye and pretend it isn't happening to you, thinking that in time things would work themselves out without your having to lift a finger.

If things are threatening to turn your world upside down and you're alerted to it, don't just wait and see what happens. Though it's easy to get swept away by a strong current, finding your resolve and keeping your mind grounded to the truth that you always have a say in things (most importantly because it is your life) would help keep you on your feet. Use it to empower you and motivate you to act responsibly and effectively to address your situation.

You would rather be ignorant and safe, than aware but at risk.

Ignorance is bliss since it keeps you from hurting. Why? Because what you are not aware of cannot possibly touch you in any way. Seeking awareness, getting to the heart of matters, means risking pain and the tremendous amount of emotional stress that goes with it.

Do not be a lame, sitting duck who's pretending to be ignorant and just waiting to get shot. If there is one person who should be most concerned of your welfare, it is none other than you. Get moving and analyze your circumstances as thoroughly and as objectively as you possibly could. Even if it means scrutinizing your own follies that led you to your current dilemma, no pain is too great if it would mean your salvation in the end.
